Looking for JLT CAI opinions

Yes, Yes another CAI thread.

For the Boss owners who might have purchased one, I was wondering how you like it?
This week my tuner guy emailed me asking if I'd rather have a JLT instead of a Steeda Tune,
I told him I like the Steeda looks much better and said I like the factory scoop bring utilized in the Steeda function.
He emails me back saying JLT does also.
So I'm wondering what should I do. Figured I'd ask around here and see what the concensus is.
Thanks

I have the JLT CAI
I like the way it opens my mail, cleans my carpets, maintains my pool, picks up my kids from the mall, and cleans up after my dog

oh yeah does good job straighten the air for the Boss motor too...

Seriously, I've had the JLT CAI for about 6months, no issues, easy installation
was recommended to me by Dallas Mustang

Could you feel a difference. With the CAI and tune? Who tuned yours.

I have the carbon Fiber JLT .. looks great ... and yes .. it uses the factory Cold Air intake tube coming through the grill ...

I have an ITSX and have verified that while driving my AIT is very close to Ambient temp being dispayed on my Mustangs Outside Air temp display. While idling the AIT will creep up to near 130 depending how long you are not moving .. but will immediately drop once you start moving again.

Steeda CAI w/Tune peak to peak gains of up to 28hp and 22ft/lbs of torque have been achieved, with point to point gains of as much as 32 horsepower and 25 ft/lbs of torque!

Great piece and they are currently on sale.

Assume the Steeda gains are with the regular key.
What happens with the red key?
Does it still work as usual and does the tune work here too?

There is no tuning support for the track key. You do not use the track key with any custom tune.

We can tune a stock boss without the CAI, but you still cant use the track key unless the stock tune is in the car.

Sorry to jump in here but does the Steeda tune Erase the Red Key tune once you download it into the car...or... if you remove the Steeda tune, place the stock tune back do you "get back" the track key tune?

CAI's are a good thing and that's why EVERY Boss 302 has one coming from the factory. Do you really think there's some Ford Engineers slapping themselves in the forehead saying, "dang, we left 10-30 HP on the table because we are so friggin' stupid" Give me a break.

Aesthetically, some of the CAI's are very nice. Don't count on ANY performance improvement.

Well we will find out I have dynos scheduled, I will stock dyno on 2 different dynos to see how much difference between 2 dynos with car 100? stock, then I will install the
CAI and Tune an see what difference I got, plus must likely car will be warm without any cool down.
If I see 20rwhp gain I will feel the tune and Cai was worth it.

Plus I've taken my Boss to track and on 3 different days, everytime the best I've run was 12.2@114.43 bone stock, except tires,
If I get my tune and CAI before the 24 I'm going to track on that date, if I run better then 12.2 and trap more then 114,that will be the best proof to end all the controversy.

Just to be clear, my position is that there is NO HP improvement in an CAI ( on a relatively stock Boss). Those companies selling CAI +Tune *may* in fact get some HP from the tune - but it ain't gonna be coming from the CAI. Might as well be selling a Radio Antenna that adds 20HP with an asterisk that says, "requires tune".

You asked for opinions. You have mine. But, what do I know - with only a few hundred hours of dyno testing Ford engines.

The really funny part is that the engine won't even operate correctly with just a CAI. The newer stangs have to be flashed for the CAI to even work correctly.

A lot of testing has recently been done to optimize the CAI and tune to get the best gains. Best bet is to do all the go fast mods and get it dyno tuned at one time.

I don't mind your opinion, I will see what happens, I purchased a 93 tune for Stock boss, ( which might not have anything left on Fords end). And I purchased a 93 tune for a JLT, and I will be dynoing the results, you could be right well see.

I won some free dyno time, and so I don't mind, base dyno and some dyno tuneing
