Launch Control

Just wanted to mention to whoever didnt know,
Once you set launch control, lets say 4,000 RPM, it will stay at that setting, nomatter if you shut your car off or not.
So anytime you wanna use launch control it will be set already, you wont need to set it everytime your at the light (Drag Race)
I discovered this today, I was gonna take a video of how to use it and it was still set to yesterday setting when I was in garage (2,000 rpm) when I was playing around,,

Is that what you guys are launching at? 4000rpm at the strip? I was curious what would be the best rpm on the stock tires and on drag tires..

I haven't taken my Boss to the dragstrip yet. I'm still preparing it for that, including drag wheels (15x10") and M/T drag radials. I really want to use Launch Control, however, I doubt that it will be useful with its 5000 RPM max. In my case, launching at a higher RPM will be needed for good 60ft times, like at least 6000. I hope I'm wrong.

That's why I purchased the MSD 2 step, it adjust from 0 - 10k. I figure that should be enough! I haven't installed it yet to give a review, should know in a couple of weeks.

Did you have to relocate anything to fit those wheels? I've been thinking that it would be nice to have a set of drags for the once or twice a year I go. Does anyone have any suggestions for a wheel and drag tire that someone could go with that they could throw on at home and drive to the track for the day. Something that does not involve relocating anything? There are a couple of threads that go over this a bit but I am still left a little confused on what the best size would be. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Yes, I had to install swaybar relocation brackets, which includes cutting off the lowermost rear shock mount tabs to fit the 15x10" wheels. The relocation brackets aren't necessary if you go with 15x8" wheels, so maybe that's an option. If you get drag radials then you could mount them at home and safely drive to and from the dragstrip as long as it isn't raining. You then have to decide size radials to go with, 26" or 28". Mine are technically 27.8" tall, so they are in the 28" family.

Thats great, thank you. What would be the difference between the 26" and the 28"?

28" will probably give you flat 12's in stock tune and you will cross the 1/4 mile at about 7200 rpm

26" will get you into the 11's but you run the risk of bouncing off the rev limiter in the final 70 ft or so.

I initially started with the 28" tires you see in my avatar. I got a best of 11.84 on a drizzly track, with more seat time I should get a 11.5xx or better. I am currently running 26" tires to get a better e.t. , I have my car tuned so I am not worried about bouncing off the rev limiter, but I should be crossing at around 7500 on a clean run.
