I might not be able to pass the 90db limit at Laguna Seca under full throttle! I'm either going to have to put them back in or buy the dump valve. Definitely not going to drill them out now.
depends on who you run with
the limit is 92db. depending on temp and wind direction, I've seen lots of cars squeak by that were way over 92db. and, depending on who you're running with, you usually get two cautions before you get pulled from the track for noise. granted, a caution means that your session is over...so getting cautioned really stinks. and the sound booth is track right...hence all the funny contraptions you see some folks running that angle their exhausts to the left.
it's one of the only, probably the only, downside of laguna. it's what happens when lots of rich homeowners get together and pass a city sound ordinance. LS is only allowed 4 days a year when there is no sound restriction. 92's actually not too bad. the only stock cars I've seen not pass there are 997 gt3's and the occasional ferrari. the gt3 guys use these little $3 plugs to plug the vacuum lines that keep their secondary exhaust openings from actuating...resulting a little loss of power. but I've never seen anyone not pass if they simply lift out of 5. but I hear you...I hate to have to lift there.
Dave, when are you going to LS?

Laguna Seca used to be a secluded race track on Fort Ord Government property. Over the past 45 years there have been many changes in the area. Fort Ord closed, large houses have popped up everywhere. Now, they are restricted to an annual average noise level.
Most track activities are restricted to 90dB so that major events like ALMS, FIM Gran Prix, etc., run unrestricted.
90 dB can be difficult to achieve especially on some days when the atmosphere is not cooperating.

Dave, I would be a bit surprised if you had a problem. I've run on MANY tracks with a 90dB limit with my 95R, and it was louder than you could believe! No cats, and essentially no mufflers. Never had a problem and that car was louder than a lot of purpose built race cars.
