I hope the Window Sticker doesn't call the car a GT Pemium with a 50x Rapid Spec. I'd like the word "Boss 302", and when applicable "Laguna Seca", to be prominent on the top.

The words "Laguna Seca" don't even appear on their Order Confirmations.

Hope not - I thought the second window sticker was because the car went to a second mfr.

 

My dealer said the car will be built by SVT which leads me to guess that it will have its own window sticker.

 

J/K. The Boss will not be in the same league as previous SEs, it will stand on its own.

Incorrect, the car will be built at AAI, just like all the other magnificent Mustangs.

 

What I was told is that the SVT builders are right next door to the Auto Alliance plant where the basic vehicle will be built.

 

The Boss promo video stated the Boss goes down the line with all the other cars, (as do the Shelby's for that matter).

SVT is not next to AAI. The GT500s get built on the same line as the V6, GT, and Mazda6 i and s models. The Boss will fit right into that mix as well.

I'll assume those are the prototypes built for testing and promotional purposes. No actual customers cars will be built before the Jan 18th, Job 1 date.

 

You seem to have the real gouge. Appreciate the info and now trying to find out when my order will be built. Dealer has told me it is not Job 1 but that doesn't tell me when. Thanks for the details.

 

All dealers were told when their allocated car(s) will be built. They were told they would receive their car(s) in the 1st (Spring), 2nd (Summer), 3rd, or 4th quarter, typically at most one car per quarter.

 

I assume Ford is aware the Boss will put a dent on the GT500 sales and those who want more performance will likely not settle for a GT. I have a gut feeling Ford will go over the projected production of the Boss considering the production for the '12 MY can go for eighteen months.

I would welcome Chevy resurrecting the Z28.

 

I don't think the dent will be a big one. Ford limited 2011 GT500 production to 5500 cars, so that's a fairly small number. I think one reason Ford stripped the Boss of any options (Nav., security, audio) was so the Boss would have it's own niche and not encroach on the GT500.

 

An additional factoid - the modular engines for the SVT Mustangs (GT500 included) since 1996 were built in the Romeo, MI Engine plant in an "offline" area called the Niche Line.

At AAI, there is an alternate area where the recent Ford Racing Mustang cars were built (FR500C, Cobra Jet).

Perhaps this is what your dealer was thinking of, or perhaps they were misinformed.

 

It's very surprising to me to see a car with decal stripes still going down the line. When I went to AAI a few years ago, the decal stripes (GT500) were applied in a room after the car had left the line.
