Think it would be a little harder on a 13 since you would have to remove the black rear panel then the gas cap.

 

Don't you have to remove the matte rear panel on the 2012 also?

 

No it's just a decal.

Consider painting the silver "wart" matte black to match the deck lid decal while you have the emblem off your car. It will look like this.
