I got $200 for Christmas, what should I get that is for the Boss, or Boss related?

I've been eyeing a set of BMR LCA's, but I'm open to other ideas as I can buy those with my money.

What are your goals for the Boss? Track, DD, car shows, etc.? Each needs different toys.

In that case, a set of MM c/c plates. The stock suspension on the Boss is phenomenal on the track. I'm not sure why you'd swap the LCAs for the road course. You would however benefit from more neg camber.

For road course work you will need to get the brake cooling ducts and the trans cooler scoop too. Sounds like you will need mo money!

Track-related equipment for ~$200, IMO, will be either Saleen grill (to allow more air) or brake cooling ducts.

Corey, I've got the brake cooling kit here at my place. Give me the $200 and it's yours.

Really!? I thought the stock suspension was really under dampened and still a bit floaty for my tastes. Maybe it's the tires I'm feeling....

I say get the camber plates or the bolts and brake ducts

I'm basing it on actual track performance and not "feel". Yes there seems to be excessive brake dive and body roll, but when it comes to actual lap times, numbers don't lie. The only cars that I've personally seen compete with my Boss are Z06s (modded and well driven), GT3s (either dead heat or passing them) and GT3RSs (close but faster when well driven). The way the Boss suspension is setup from Ford, it just bites and rotates the car. It's incredibly neutral with a hint of oversteer which suits me just fine.

I'd say MGW shifter for any MT-82 equipped mustang.

Just put one in my GT, and it's incredible.

I believe the boss has a different shifter setup? I wouldn't touch it. The shifter gets compliments from s2k drivers, who arguably have the best shifter feel, period

I'd have to agree, but for a novice driver like myself, floaty doesn't inspire confidence in a 125mph turn without any aero, which is hindering some of my lap times. Also the amount of roll doesn't help it in tighter tracks and autox's. I'm still trying to figure out if I'd benefit from a coilover or driver mod. Btw, the best feeling is getting a point by from a c6 z06. Especially since that was my first choice of car

if you are gong to track the car and don't have monster shoes a nice set of racing pedals is worth the money. i ordered a set that i think Gary recommended in another thread yesterday. i got tired of having to put my foot so far over on the brake to be able to heel toe without falling between the brake and throttle. i also had my foot slip off the brake once on a corner with the strange position i needed to hell toe with accuracy. i took to wearing wide bottom nikes when i drive on the track to make hitting it easier whilst leaving the pilotis sitting in their box. nothing will pucker your sphincter faster than slipping a foot off the brake at 100mph coming into a sharp corner.

That's a driver issue. The C6 Z06 is 500 lbs lighter, has a lower center of gravity, 1" to 1.5" more rubber all the way around and at least 15% more HP (for $1200 they have 25% more HP) than the Boss. Physics dictate the Z06 comes out on top. That said, it's still a Corvette and I wouldn't be caught dead driving one. (Well except that time at Spring Mountain in the Ron Fellowes School ) They are track beasts I have to admit.

The suspension is pretty "soft" for a track-oriented car, but soft is 1) very grippy and 2) very forgiving.

Regarding modifications:

that depends on the track too, ECR is rather notorious for some poor asphalt in sections. my car bobs up and down on a couple sections, and can use some more damping but i don't think it hurts my times. i agree with Gary though, this car is very well balanced car as it sits. ive had many porsche owners come up and tell me how fast the car is, it's nice to see the guys with 6-figure sports cars admit the boss is as good or better when driven to similar skill levels. FWIW, and slightly off topic, if you stay in the throttle over those rough sections that upset the car or at least maintain, the car is much more stable. letting off on those bad sections doesn't do me any good.

Also, money well spent if you buy ultimate speed secrets, great book for people wanting to learn more about driving fast. amazon has it in digital format, bought it for my kindle fire a few months back.

Rofl!! Noted!

Also I know the z06 should beat us but talk about lack of driver confidence. The z06 is well beyond my driving capabilities. The car felt so rubbery and unreadable to me.

I'll be picking that book up! Thanks
