gone evo hunting....and h&r rss track times
gone evo hunting....and h&r rss track times
Just got back from running at streets of willow and big willow this past Sunday. The significance of this is that I have time comparisons for the 2 tracks on stock setup vs my current setup.
disclaimer: I'm only on my second season of tracking cars and there are places where I could shave more time but I choose not to since I just don't have the *****
to do so. Also the wheels/tires were different but I honestly felt the pirellis had better grip for the first couple laps and the nittos were good for at least 8 laps but never had the bite of the pirellis
baseline setup
toe out 1/16"
camber -2.3
eibach camber bolt
shocks on setting 5
tiger hood
pirellis were nearly new
current setup
275/35/19 square nt05 on the third track day and by then end I may have room for one more
tsw nurburgring wheels
h&r rss coilovers set on -3 from full stiff
mm camber plate
tiger hood
toe out 1/16"
camber -2.1
baseline streets of willow 1:27.8
h&r streets of willow 1:28.1
baseline big willow 140.1
h&r big willow 136.3
for those who dont know the tracks. Streets of willow is a big autox with 2 straights and favors lighter cars over power. I think it's the most dangerous track I've been on. Yesterday 3 cars went off in the advance group on different occasions. In all three cases they weren't able to drive home and it happened in the back straight where a lot of your time is made up. It's a blind downhill straight with 2 chicanes followed by a 90* off camber. In my stock setup I hit 115 to get my time and yesterday I only got to 107 bc I was a bit intimidated by the accidents. Not to mention my pads only had 6mm left and much braking was lost. nonetheless I placed 4th in my time attack....1st and second were aeroed s2000's and third was the track prepped evo VIII in the video on nt01 tires and the smell of race gas
big willow is a much different track that my car tops out at 148mph with long high speed sweepers(fastest one is a 125mph). This is where the suspension really shined and the times show it
fastest lap at SOW time attack phone app time was off and my time was based off of the track transponder

turn in response is more the responsibility of the toe setting and camber is responsible for tire wear and grip...but yes the camber bolts seemed to have more room for negative camber than the mm camber plates did. However many people dont favor the bolts bc it uses a smaller overall diameter bolt to have room for adjustment. Another option is to drill out your struts for adjustability, probably the best option.
