didnt want to assume...I have screennames on other sites from ten years ago when I owned a nitrous fed cobra....

anyways the GT500 has a different shifter and trans so maybe thats why yours had red.

are they even made on the same assembly line?

update!! i got the red tool and with a little muscle the **** came off...
now the bad news....the shift bood adapter i got from speeddawg does not go on. so i cant put the k n o b on with the adapter. i didnt like the ones from cjpony and the one from grabberpony is out of stock....so now i have to go hunting...

called MGW. their adapters only work with their shifter and *****...i talked to the lady there. i called speeddawg who i got the adapter from. they said that ford changed the shifters midway and some of the s h a f t s taper at the bottom so that will not allow for some adapters to go on. they are sending a new part that has been re-tooled to allow for the taper. hope this works....so close

Guess they were out of loctite on the day mine was put on. Screwed of by hand.

Mine had blue loctite on it,but got it off with the strap wrench

Good point, the IUP shifter is a flimsy molded rubber piece in the older GTs and GT500s and it was prone to being stretched or stripped if you were in a hurry to trim your ETs at the track.

IMO the ball currently used in the Boss and GT500 is a much better piece both in quality and ergonomic function.

The **** cracking or getting scratched is most common.
