Dropped off the 70 ... err, I mean 12 Boss
I like the look now, black contrasts well to many colors but none better then yellow IMHO.
Thing is - it does not stand out as bad looking with the rear half the way it is.Boss man, it is hard to spend the money one month after buying the car, this cost me about a grand not including spoiler, louvers etc. I am lucky enough to be in a position to own a Boss now and since I have it I want to make it my own in a way I will like and enjoy

Nice job!
I'm a fan of matte black accents.
My kona blue GT is going in for paint work next month.
I was going to have between the taillights, stock spoiler, roof, and top of hood cowl painted matte black.
After seeing your Boss with the roof body color, and seeing pictures of a Kona with a matte black roof, I decided to leave my roof kona blue. Saved me a good chunk of money, too, as I was quoted $850 for the decklid, spoiler, roof, and hood cowl, only $385 without the roof.
My only question now is should I have the whole hood bump painted, make it look sort of like a shaker hood, or just the top?
Right now I'm at just the top, the area that the Boss sticker covers.

I wanted to go with a broader painted area on the hood like a 69 but I felt it would not look good with the shape of this hood. That would be the way to play it safe, however others have said they might go with a larger 69 style, again it comes down to what you like, you may even think it looks better.

Check out the "New Wing" thread and you can see pics of Steve's GT500 spoiler on a KB, it looks great also.

Seeing how that is not the case here and you are asking my opinion I would stay in the center raised area.

Or
Extend that down the sides of the raised portion. I'm thinking it will look sort of like the Cobra jet shaker hood scoop.
Just bigger.
Talk with your body guy since I am not an expert, but ... what I was told is that if I painted the center it needs to be a flat base black then clear. So this will leave you with a raised edge unless you plan to reclear the whole hood and that will cost you. The clear would normally just be applied over the newly painted area, I would not want to re-clear the whole hood my self, not only for the cost but you run the risk of not matching texture of the fender tops.
Seeing how you will have an edge with the paint, I plan I doing a sticker. If the car is outside more the paint will last longer and you will not have wax issues but I would still rather the sticker. You can always swap it out in time. Just something to think about.
On the roof being body color, every time I look at I like it more and more

No not really, I would rather have a yellow 70 Boss but I do like the grabber green and orange also. I just got the 70 a few months ago, it had some nice/different options and will make a cool car all finished.

Scott, the roof being body color really looks good on your car. Same goes for that spoiler in black. Only thing I'm not fond of is the trunk top being black, but I really like what you've done with the car.
Thanks, I was going after the retro look and I like the way it came out. If the hood strip was wider and extended to the front edge I think it flow better with the deck lid. I would have to see one painted this way first before I would attempt something like that.
Well I finish up the last of the appearance changes to the Boss. Put the matte black hood stripe on and unlike the other changes I am not real happy with it. It looks fantastic from inside the car, what a difference but with the factory shinny side stripes it does not look good. When I had the rear done (deck lid and spoiler) it looked fine with the side stripes the way they were but the hood is totally different.
I was going back and forth about doing this but you never know until you try. I think the Boss would look fantastic with the hood and side stripes all in flat but I do not plan on replacing the side stripes. I thought it would look OK with flat on top and the sides original and that is why I tried this. I think I may have to go back to the original stripe but will miss the way it looks from the inside and the less glare you get.
Just a shot without the hood stripe. I was amazed at how easy the factory stripe peeled off, took me all of two minutes and that was my biggest fear to start with.

here is looking at the car straight on, looks good this way

and here from the side

The stripe was not easy to do, it is very big. I started by lining up the rear and then working forward. In the end it still finished off center at the front, it really is an art form and this was a little big for someone without experience.
