Yes. The dealer you're buying from needs to arrange this with the other dealer to be sure they are willing to do a "courtesy delivery." Most dealers charge a few hundred bucks to do a courtesy delivery. The selling/ordering dealer will then need to put the delivering dealer's dealer code into the order screen in the "ship to" field so that Ford knows where to send the car.

On a side noe, on the factory window sticker of all Fords, you'll see in the lower left hand corner a box that says which dealer a vehicle is "sold to" and another box that says which dealer a vehicle is to "ship to."

great to hear Brian, thank you. I actually had one dealer say they couldn't do it with the Boss 302.

Brian, over at AFM there is a sponsor called Price Ford in WA that has dropped shipped several Mustangs for members there. He has stated that it is not allowed for the receiving dealer to charge for the service? I am not disagreeing with what you may know just going on what I have read there. None of the people that have picked up cars have stated they paid a fee to the best of my knowledge?

I had my GT500 drop shipped. It ended up at the wrong dealer. So my dealer and I jumped in his superduty with an enclosed trailer and went to the other dealer to get it. It had all the correct shipping info on the car and still went to the wrong dealer. I was not happy at all. But it turned out fine.

Why would the receiving dealer do the delivery for free? They have to prep the car, do the pre-delivery inspection, clean it up, and go over the car with the customer. Figure an hour or two of the receiving dealer's time. Last time I checked, most businesses don't work for free.

Perhaps the people you're referencing don't know they paid a fee as the selling dealer may have just rolled it into the selling price and paid the receiving dealer out of those proceeds?

does that mean at delivery there is no out of pocket expense, all rolled into the contract/financing?

I'm getting mine from Alabama and it will be delivered from Ford to my local dealer here in Massachusetts.

Some dealers will charge an additional fee for doing this, both the selling and receiving dealer.

In my case neither is. The selling dealer gets the credit for the sale, and my dealer here is going to prep and deliver the car for no fee, because myself and my family have bought over 15 cars/trucks from them over the years. And they know we are in line for 2 - 3 more vehicles over the next two years.

Talked to a local dealer and said they do not charge for this service, their response was we would not want another dealer to charge us if sold the car and sent it to them. I guess it depends on the dealer, the way the guy Price Ford explains it they are not allowed to add a charge, how true this is I don't know.

I have not done it but the since the car will be paid for so there is no paperwork for the receiving dealer. They need to take some plastic off and wash it, should not be too much work for them. Hey retail some stores take coupons from their competitors, because they want your business. Maybe the dealers can take note of that for future clients.
