I'm planning on going to a open track event to make a few passes. I've played around with different rpm's for launch but I know that the street pavement is not anywhere close to running on the layed down rubber at the track. Has anyone on here made some runs and if so what rpm and technique did you find worked the best.

I've found on the street that leaving with much more than idle rpm leads to quite a bit of wheel spin. I hope I can get a bit more on the track. I'm also thinking on dialing down the rear compression to get a bit of weight shift.

I have been down the quarter a few times now. Best time has been 12.9 @111 mph. I have an issue getting the car started. I had lots of wheel hop at first, then swapped out the upper control arm which has taken care of the hop. Still have lots of wheel spin though. I run the stock tires at 24psi. Spoke to a guy that was running another Boss the saqme time I was and he was getting 12.6 @ 113 mph. He said he had been drag racing for 30 some years, so he had quite a bit of experiance. He said that you have to "slip the clutch" while applying the gas. A tough technique for me to learn. I am an off-on driver! Off with the clutch and on with the gas! And btw, the other Boss driver said the car will do better than 12.6's on stock tires. He said he needs a little more time behind the wheel and he will get 12.5's.
I am having the tractions issues with the stock tires. Slip the clutch and launch about 1500 and roll the throttle on in 1st and 2nd to try to control the spinning and start doing a full on in 3rd. Still at the top of 3rd, several times it broke loose and I went sideways quickly. When it breaks loose on 3rd it would pop from about 6k+rpm to hit the rev limiter before I could get out of it. about 12.8/12.9 and 111 was all I could do. I am going to set the shocks to position 1 then next time and try that for fun. My 2001 Cobra was about 1/2 sec quicker with the same setup. The IRS helped a lot when I learned how to drive it. I just need some time to adjust to the Boss!
I tried with shocks on 2, then on 1. Same results either way. I get maybe 5 to 10 feet of spining when I hit second, but no spin at all in 3rd, just maybe a chirp. Going out again this afternoon to run a different track. It is an 1/8 mile track. Hopefully get the start figured out soon.
Learn to slip your clutch out smooth from a higher RPM and manage the gas till you know your good.
try a 3k slip for practice, don't burn your clutch just let it out like your in the rain but quicker.
I dump the clutch on my mickey thompsons, but on street tires I slip it out from 5500 rpm for a 1.8 60 ft with my lazy 3.31's.

Rev to a certain RPM, hold it there with the gas pedal, instead of dumping the clutch let it out smoothly just as it starts grabbing so your car doesn't nose dive and at the same time start getting the gas to the floors pretty quickly, so you make a very smooth and quick take off.

Additionally you're always keeping your foot on the pedal and if the revs drop at all you press the clutch pedal in a touch to bring the revs back up. It seems like this would work launching in second gear and it's the reason why I asked. On motorcycles it works very well
IMO finessing a clutch with your hand is easier to me than with your leg.

Umm no you don't want to drag race starting on second gear you will run a very poor time.
You're just going to bog the engine and burn your clutch. USE ALL YOUR GEARS.
Please nobody ever say that again unless you are in a drag car with 700hp 4.56 gears you never start in 2nd gear.
