Hopefully no one has had to replace their vinyls, however I am looking for anyone who has. Roughly 2 months ago I was in an accident and I had to have the front end and passenger fender replaced, in doing so the shop had t take the door off and replace the vinyls on it, I believe to blend the paint but I am not entirely sure why they did it. However after replacing the door vinyl I noticed abut 5 sets of vertical lines, maybe an inch about from each other in the set going along the top vinyl streak. They are kind of hard to see unless you know they are there but you can certainly feel them. It's as if the person applying the vinyl kept the backing on to slowly apply the vinyl and as he lifted the backing as he went down the car very small creases formed. I went back to the shop to tell them it was unacceptable and I wanted it done again, which it apparently was, however the same lines in what look like the same place have occurred again.

What I would like to know is has anyone else run into this, as the contact at the shop told me this was an issue with faulty glue that was on the vinyls and Ford needed to fix the issue by supplying them with a working vinyl. To me it sounds like complete BS and almost seems like they are trying to just get me to forget about it and deal with it. I am willing to deal with the issue if it is a documented problem with the vinyls however I will not deal with it if they are just being lazy schmucks.

I will supply a picture of what I am describing, however it is very hard to see the crease as the white seems to mask it.

In basically the center of the picture about an inch from the lens flare is what I am talking about.

 

Just saw a few days ago, someone hit my door,with what looks like a shopping cart at the crease just in front of the handle about 4 inches long. Was I ever pissed. Had one estimate and it was $912. He said he would have to replace the lower stripe on the door and the cost for just that one lower stripe was $302! I'm going to look around at a few more shops and see what I come up with. I would have the shop that did yours to do it over and get it done right.
