Does size matter?
I have been looking at changing my wheels for a while now.
1: Seems that there is much more choice of 18's or 20's.
2: 18's are cheaper than 19's or 20's + tires are cheaper.
3: 20's will slow the acceleration down because of the effect on gearing.
3: 20's are going to be heavier and therefore have a slight effect on performance.
4: 20's look much nicer fitting the wheel arch better. (personal choice)
5: 18's leave quite a gap in the arch. With that said my car was lowered about 1.5' at the back and 1' at the front so may look more like stock with 18's.
6: More chance of 18's fitting with the brembo's.
7: If I get 19's I don't have to buy tires right now. (I don't put a ton of miles on my cars, perhaps 5000 per year), but seems to seriously effect choice.
I just can't come to a decision, but want to know if my logic is right above?
I think the 20's would be the nicer looking but not sure how much I will loose on acceleration.
Am I thinking to much about this and should just concentrate on what looks the best? (for me that is)....?
Phil.

Also have to think about with the drop will 20's fit or are you going for the hellaflush? I would go with 18's with the drop, plus you can get tires much cheaper at that size, and you will have decreased rotational mass which is good.

I would say go with 19s or 20s. I had 19s when i had my brembo wheels then changed to 20s. If you get 20s and you go with a slimmer profile tire it should almost be the same diameter as the 19s with a thicker profile tire. I cant notice the different on acceleration. The only thing i can notice is less tire spin because of my 295s in the back. I also have 3:73s gears so my car is already has high gears. If you have 3:31s then it might slug the car down too much, just things you have to consider.
Personally i dont think 18s really that good. 19s fit awesome as well as 20s. I would say be careful with 20s if your car wasnt lowered as it can make it look a little too trucky, but since yours is lowered I wouldn't worry.

You can get a 20'' tire in a diameter that works with your car, q 255/35R20 is 27'' inches in OD as is a 295/30R20 depending on the manufacturer. Also looking into a forged rim versus a cast rim can minimize or even reduce unsprung weight although a 20'' wheel does move the barrel of the rim out farther increasing its rotating mass ( to what effect I cannot say, perhaps somebody with the proper background could chime in with a bit of fancy math?) .
Be cognisant of handling changes, the lower profile sidewall should improve steering response and changing the stagger on the tire sizes with more on the rear will cause the car to favor more under steer. Ride may deteriorate as well with the 20'' wheel since a tire acts as a sort of shock absorber and with a shorter sidewall there is less to deform.
On the subject of unsprung weight, a substantial increase in the total wheel and tire package weight may deteriorate ride and handling if the dampers and springs have a tough time coping with that increased unpsrung weight.
Some things to consider anyway.
