Brembo Brake Question

Hey Guys -

I have a 2013 GT with the track pack and will be attend a track event in a few weeks. I'll be replacing the brake lines with stainless steel units as well as putting in some RBF600 fluid. My question is, how are the stock performance Brembo pads for track use?

Even though I run in the advanced group I'd like to know how the stock pads are as I'm just not I wanting to deal with the squeal of Hawk HP+ pads just yet as the car is 90% street driven.

So, will/can the stock pads last a full day of advanced driving at Laguna Seca?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers -

I ran with my stock pads at Road America for several days. I think you will be fine.

How did your tires hold up?

I talked to a guy that ran his Shelby at a HPDE event and he said he chewed up a set of brakes and tires over two days. Albeit two very fun days.

I ran a track day at BIR...Donneybrooke ( 3.1 mile) course this past Monday. With my Boss....I had the dust shields removed and used ATE Super Blue DOT 4 fluid. My tire wear seemed to be equal or less than others in my group....but then again...I was in the "Novice" category. I noticed zero problems with the brake pads....never had any fade. Being in the expert category....YMMV.

The stock pads should last a full day with no problem. I'm a novice and had minor brake fade on stock pads at TH my first time out. Since then I've been using HP Plus pads up front and they are a nice improvement over stock and I have not had any fading. I've got Pagid pads and DBA rotors sitting in my garage ready to be installed before the NorCal Shelby event at TH next month.

Get brake ducts and they will last a bit longer.

I can't tell the tone of this post, but if you're being serious and if you currently don't have an extra set of pads, I would suggest checking your pads (and any other parts you may need) a few weeks in advance. In case you need an extra set, you can find the best price for the pads that you want. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to find the pads that you want to use, and you may end up paying a lot more. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way a few years ago when I started doing track days.
