Daytona International Speedway today
So far most tops were in the 151 to 159 range with a 166, 166.5 and 171.9. If I short shifted 5 to 6 without being at 7500 I did not get good speed, the best is when I was at limit in 5th and when to 6th. Then you had to stay to the floor through the tri-oval and that is not as easy as it looks. I had to fight my foot from lifting because the banking there does not look like you can stay flat out.
Plus until you get use to being sideways on the banking it is really hard to shift there. It was effing scary the first session
You are looking at the hood of the car in front of you and the sky is vertical to the hood. It really is a strange feeling and after two laps I almost felt like coming in and going home. By days end I was getting better but still the fear never left me completely.
I think the shirt helped alot

We were running the 24HR course same as Grand-Am
Here is one vid so far, we need to go over the vids and get them sorted out. I also have the the Gopro vids but no data with them. In these the GPS is lagging behind on recording speed and drops off. The phone app gives you a read out of laps times and top speed per lap, that is what we went on for what was posted.
There could be an error but I have never seen GPS read high, it normally drops the speed off like in this vid if the signal is weak. Even if we throw out the 171.9 there are still two 166 speeds on different laps and sessions. I had many, many people come up to me and say how fast the Boss was. Mostly from people in my group but also people who were just watching from the stands.
There is little doubt this car is incredible, it makes a pro out of anyone. I have little experience and to even be able to run as smooth and fast as I did out there is all due to the Boss. Quote of the day was from a Camero owner talking to a few people in line getting ready to go out.
"This Camero is great, It is fast, really fast (then looking at me) OK, not as fast as you but still fast...."
Second best quote was someone in my group "when I see yellow behind me I just automatically put my turn signal on"

Still working on the vids from the phone. I will put up a few from the Gopro, this one is from the same session as the phone. Things were not well organized with the Audi Club. First we arrived at 6:45 and did not enter the grounds until 7:30, the drivers meeting was suppose to start at 7:30 the the schedule got pushed back from the start.
Then they had instructors instructing in back to back groups, how is even possible since as one group comes off track the other is going out. I waited for my instructor first session along with three other cars and watched the other cars in my group head out. As they passed by us in the pits I said to hell with this pulled up to the line, told the corner worker I had no instructor but track experienced and headed out.
I basically had no idea where i was so took it slow. When I hit the NASCAR banking first time I felt light-headed (and terrified). Then came the bus stop, pass turn one through the grass over the hill and onto grandma's house, coming back out ahead of turn two. Then more banking and into the road course, I was so happy to hit the infield and just be flat (and alive) I did not even try to drive the course, it was more just a chance to actually breath since I did not all the way around the banking.
Second time out I settled down quite a bit and started to get use to the track. It was still hard to run close to the wall in the banking but had to since that is where you pass (and the Boss did that alot). It would have been nice to run some laps with someone who knew the track, I did get use to many of the turns after a while but I was just watching a vid from TMS Ted in his Boss and he ran some nice lines last month. If I had learned turn 6 (entering the NASCAR turn one) I could have cut two seconds there, it is a little tricky and I never hit it correct.
I guess I could write about it for days but I will leave it at this. The Boss is an awesome car, I had always dreamed about going around Daytona even at highway speeds in a street car. Getting to do this in a car built to be there was truly incredible

Couple of laps with "helmetcam" lots of sun so the outside pic is not great. The harnesses worked great but I still tried to hold myself in the seat from force of habit. When I get use to having them I should be able to run much smoother.

Some nice vids from the hood, most of the second session and still getting use to the track.
Ran Hawk DTC30's up front, HP+ rear and NT05's all around. After this session I lower the splitter angle slightly because I was feeling a "light" off the banking. Just that little bit made a big difference, it's fun to play with stuff like this.

This is the rest of the vids I have with the lap timer. It was not my phone and some sessions did not get recorded, operator error I guess on my part. Big thanks to LadyBoss302 for setting up the whole thing in the first place
I have no idea what session belongs to what vid. The best lap speed recorded in the data files does not show in these vids so I have no idea what the truth is. There are some high 150's in here with a 161 showing for a second as the the GPS was lagging behind then catching back up. Best speed off turns one and two was 152 in the vids. I am sure the speed without traffic was consistant at 147 to 151 so that seems correct.
Whatever the top was it does not matter, having fun was way more important

Harry's lap timer records video every other lap. During the laps without video it is storing previous lap to iPhone. It stores data (not video) for every lap. You can connect to OBDII and overlay RPM, speed (from speed sensor), and what gear you are in (calculated) on the video.
I think you were operating it correctly.

Wow Scott, amazing. I've run this course a thousand times on Iracing in the FR 500s. http://www.iracing.com/cars-and-trac...ustang-fr500s/

Scott, job well done. You now made Yellow Blaze the Fastest color making Race Red second. I love this quote: when I see yellow behind me I just automatically put my turn signal on"
Yellow Blaze it's in the name.

My yellow blaze car and myself are very jealous! I want to run that course oh so very bad, one year I'll have to ship my car out there and do it.
A note, try not to shuffle those hands while out on track. I have the same bad habit (though I move both sometimes), and if you can break yourself of that habit early, the better off you'll be.
Nerves of steel to hit those speeds
