Current-Generation Mustang Street Boss to Debut 13 August?

Greetings,

I'm a long-time reader and finally decided to register and become a bit more active on Brad's fantastic forum. Please allow me to provide a few insights about myself before I address the subject of the post. I've owned the following Mustangs:

- 1970 Boss 302 - purchased for $2,000.00 back in 1976 when in HS in upstate NY, just north of me up in Millbrook (I was in Poughkeepsie) a guy had two '70 Bosses: grabber orange, needed a cam, for $1,000.00 and a yellow Boss with a flat tire for $2,000.00!!
- 1986 Capri 5.0 RS - essentially a thinly-disguised Mustang, with some different sheet metal and the famous "bubbleback" rear glass
- 1993 LX 5.0 Hatchback
- 2002 GT
- 2003 SVT Cobra 10th Anniversary
- 2004 GT
- 1989 LX 5.0 Hatchback

Alas, today I'm just driving around in my trusty 1989 Ranger P/U, as I've just returned from the UAE over in the Middle East. I was fortunate enough to attend college in Daytona Beach (ERAU) and happened to get a ride from Smokey Yunick in his variable-cycle Ford Fiesta (long funny story). I also had the experience of attending one of the auctions at his famous "Best Damned Garage in Town" on Beach St. I clearly recall seeing at least two Smokey-built Boss 302 engines, just sitting there. One can only imagine what those historical pieces would be worth now. Finally, make sure to check out MustangTek's (http://mustangtek.com/index.html) library section, TONS of historical Mustang-related info there, along with the major content of the site: visual identification of Mustang components.

OK, now to the good stuff. On 25 July, a post was entered into the DrivingEnthusiast blog (http://www.drivingenthusiast.net/sec-blog/?p=7440) describing (with linked Speed Channel video/audio) a race announcer's possible inadvertent release of information regarding a 13 August debut of a new Boss 302 street version. The race was the recent Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. I watched and listened to the linked Speed Channel segment and the announcer does indeed provide info that indicates that this event will occur.

Further research has yielded a post (http://www.svtperformance.com/forums/shelby-gt500-150/712677-boss-news.html) on the SVT Performance forums providing additional info. Contained within that post is fairly intelligent speculation that Ford will reveal the new Boss at the upcoming Laguna Seca Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on 13 August. Laguna Seca's fan activities site page, positioned at the 3rd event down the page (http://www.mazdaraceway.com/pages/fan-reunion) does list, on Friday 13 August, that at the Yamaha Marketplace, at 11:50 AM, Ford will reveal an "all-new performance car ".

I detest mindless speculation, as I’m sure all of you do. Having said that, however, a historical racing event (with emphasis on the legendary Trans Am series) would seem to be the optimum time/place for Ford to reveal a street Boss version of the current-generation Mustang. I'm sure we'll all be watching for additional collaborating info as 13 August approaches....

It's no longer Brad's... But the new owners have been doing a pretty nice job

And there's been a lot of what you've discussed in the following thread (more towards the end of it- as the news has only just been surfacing):

Nice accrual of mustangs of the years tho!
And welcome!
