Cold air intake closed or not closed.
I have a Roush intake on my 2012 Boss 302 and I was wondering if I needed to change it to 100% closed box instead of it being the open tub where the hood closes it off. I don’t race it and will never take it to a track.

The purpose of the open tub as you call it, is to increase the amount of airflow into the intake manifold which provides better performance and allows your engine to breathe much easier over a closed airbox which restricts the amount of airflow.. When the hood is closed, it forms a seal around the tub which prevents hot air from the engine to enter into the intake manifold... Therefore, the tub is no longer open when the hood is closed... That being said, it is completely your personal preference and discretion as to whether you should make the switch from your current Roush intake back to a 100% closed box...

agreed with above ... even though the seal probably doesn't seal perfectly to the hood, it won't make much difference, because most of the air will come from the duct from the grill area, especially when the car is moving which creates a little positive pressure in that duct
