Changes and track testing

As some of you may know I am running a 28 inch E.T. Street for my setup. Well I swapped in some 26 inch meats (275/50R15) M/T Drag Radials and I also installed some BMR lower control arm relocation brackets. Not exactly apples to apples but my previous best was an 11.84 with a 1.7xx 60 ft on a light drizzle. I am going to verify that the 26 in. tires will work through the 1/4 mile and I am hoping for an improvement on my e.t. I will let you guys know by tomorrow or maybe late tonight. Off to the track for my journalistic duty!!

EPIC FAIL!!!! Sorry guys, as I was driving to the track a huge front with high winds started rolling in and by the time I got there the track was covered in dust. I ran 4 times I could barely hook the first 30-40 ft and after that it was slip and slide. 4th gear was the only one I could get a clean grab on. As far as the 26 inch tires, they will cross the 1/4 mile at roughly 7700 rpm. I was barely trapping 115 mph, so not sure how much of a factor the lack of traction was on that number. FYI my rev limiter is set at 7800. My best run was a sloppy 12.38 @ 114.xxx with a 1.92 60 ft.

Not a bad sloppy time, but terrible 60ft, as you noted trac conditions, Thanks for posting update !

Sorry you had poor track conditions, but thanks for sharing that you were taching 7700 or so.

No rubbing issues at all and I have launched hard. I honestly think the 26 inch tire will work. It seems a few people have reported to run them on stock tune. Or am I wrong? I haven't been on here much lately, just kind of flew threw some of the related posts.

It seems like no one is believing that the 26" tire works.

The Boss in this pic here was going the fastest of the 4 Boss's at the NMRA race two weeks ago in Bradenton

http://www.nmradigital.com/wp-conten...3/DSC_7275.jpg

This is a 275 40 17 MT Et Drag radial (26" tall tire). I talked with him for a while. Tedd has over 50 1/4 mile passes on this this car and said this tire works the best and goes the fastest even though it isnt pretty. He said he has tried multiple rim and tire combos ie 15x10 setup.

In the 80+ degree heat with a 25MPH headwind he was running 12.0x and said that the car normally runs 11.50's or faster in good conditions. It doesn't hit the rev limiter.

This car had a tune, mufflers, LCA's, lowered and an airkit.

Well if he has a tune he might have bumped limiter up. The 26 works ( which I personally tried ) but im not comfortable crossing the line @ 7500 rpm or higher pass after pass, I like the 15x10 s because it will take some of the punishment better with the sidewall.

But your probably right the 26s would give ya the better Times ( which is the whole goal )..
My goal is to be at 12.3 or better..
Mines going to be run in a Drag Radial limited class during summer. If I run into the 11s it will be tougher for me to win, because they set up up with your fastest time of the day with another person of within. .2 tenths..

He most likely doesn't hit the rev limiter because of his tune. The 7500 limit on a stock tune can be a problem on 26" tires. I chose 27.8" tires so that I have no worries about hitting the stock rev limiter in 4th gear, and they also give me a little "room to grow" with future mods.
