Okay, I've been looking through pictures of the '69 Boss 302 and I'm not seeing any cars with their roof the same color as the stripes and hood. So why now?
I've been liking everything I've been reading about this car but in all honestly the roof being all black or all white just seems too much to me.

Anyone know why Ford is doing this?

 

Because someone on the design team thought it was a good idea and was able to convince the rest of the group.

It's the only answer: THEY think it's cooler this way. Regardless of what anyone else things. Kinda like the Cervini tail lamps, dont'cha'know.

 

Likely going to be hard to find out unless does some Q&A or you can post over at www.boss302.com in the NEW Boss sections and ask "bossmustang" if he can answer since he is the one involved in the program for the last 20+ months.

Thanks for the history lesson - Never too old to learn. Also shows the wheels painted the same color as the roof.

Thank You! Yes the white stripes which were very prevalent on the race cars and white roof all come from the 69 Boss 302 Trans Am racers. The consumer versions only had black stripes. The design team has taken a ton of cues from these Trans Am racers like the blocked off fog, white stripes, white roof, rims, etc.
