Hello four-walling,

Hope you (all) had a great New Year’s! Glad to see these awesome guys guided you in the right direction. I’m posting the instructions in case someone else is looking for this as well.
To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change perform
the following:
1. Press and release SETUP to display “OIL LIFE XXX% HOLD RESET =
NEW”.
2. Press and hold RESET for two seconds and release to reset the oil life
to 100%.

Deysha, actually, its not 7,500 or 6 months anymore in most new cars. According to the flyer we got at the dealership from Ford's Extended Service Plan pamplets, the oil life monitor in all 2011 and 2012 (and 2013 model) Mustangs all have an IOLM, which is an "Intelligent Oil Life Monitor". The following is from the pamphlet I keep on my desk to show every customer when they pick up their new vehicle:

"IOLM - Intelligent Oil Life Monitor has an algorithm that determines when tho change the oil and is based on vehicle operating conditions. The system will display a message in the instrument cluster message center when an oil change is required"

And the interval listed is 1 year or 10,000 miles under normal operating conditions. The system will adjust the inverval according to vehcle operating conditions using said algorithm. So someone who drives only 6,000 miles per year will not have their message come up the same time as someone who drives 12,000 miles per year.

Thank you, since I'm not planning on taking the owners manual from the original plastic.

On my 2010 I also have the "IOLM - Intelligent Oil Life Monitor" I drive 1700 a season from April to Oct. and it will show up. Even when my Mustang is stored, I will start it up in April and there it will be.

The oil life start value of 100% equals 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six months in your model year, Colgate Stang. For example, setting oil life start value to 60% sets the oil life start value to 4,500 miles (7,200 km) and 108 days. From October to April is 6 months, so I’m sure this is why it comes on.
