CAI/throttlebody for 2012 Boss 302???
CAI/throttlebody for 2012 Boss 302???
Guys/Gals;
I really want to put a CAI and throttlebody in my Boss 302, but after reading the owners manual, and reading several posts I'm confused.
The manual states that the warranty would be "void" if I were to add those items, but I have also read from folks who seem to know alot about the engines advising that it would be ok????
I know the owners manual is sort of "gospel" (I have a 5 year extended warranty) but if ANYONE has a working knowdledge about this topic, please advise...
Thanks,
Ben

I understand it like this.................if you have an issue with the car and they determine your modification caused the issue then the warranty will not cover it. If the mod is not the problem then you should be fine.
Some dealers are more strict on their interpretation so you could check with yours and see what they think..
If you're really concerned with your extended warranty then don't touch the car till it expires.

This question comes up all the time.
Go to your dealer, talk to the VP and teh service manager.
Some dealerships will work with you regardless what the factory ford service manual says.
But be honest with them and you wont get caught out there with a denied warranty claim.

Basically, the run-down is that simply installing a part should not void your warranty, the problem comes when something goes wrong and you take it in to have the dealership fix the problem. The dealership is able to void your warranty if it sees that you have an aftermarket part related to the powertrain, according to the law (Magnuson Moss Warranty Act) they have to prove the part(s) caused the damage. However, even if they don't "prove" it, most people are not going to go through the fees and hassle of suing the dealership. Warranty voidances are not handled by Ford, they leave it up to the dealership to decide that. Ford only decides whether it will cover the repair costs of the dealership as due to a manufacturing fault. And obviously, if Ford will not pay for the repairs, then the dealership is likely to try and find a way out.
Steeda has a close relationship with Ford via their Technology Transfer Program, so most dealers are not going to give you any troubles over your Steeda parts.
Respectfully disagree with Brandon's post. The warranty of the car is between the consumer and FoMoCo. The dealership typically has some autonomy for smaller or "known" warranty items but when it comes to expensive and/or non-typical failures, Ford will typically dispatch a zone technician to have a look at the car. You can have whatever relationship you want with the dealership - but the FoMoCo employee is going to make the call.
