Skipped som of it, ADD kicked in, but I can agree with the Challenger being a nice car. Got to drive one here since they couldn't keep a Mustang on the lot long enough for me to drive one. Took it out on the autobahn and got it up to 140. Have to admit I am biased, but didn't like it as much as a Mustang. They only experience in the new 5.0 I had was a fairly short drive while on vacation in CA, which included a quick run over 100mph on the 405. Yet to be disappointed in the Boss and was surprised in the difference between it and the base 5.0 I drove.

"“Listen, I’m at a Dodge dealership writing up papers on a Challenger. If you want to sell me a car, you’d better get serious about it and quit ****ing around.”
Now THAT'S how you play hardball.

Good story, but I'm calling
on the biggest issue in the story. No way in hell a dealership gave him $18,000 trade in for a Pontiac G8 with 75,000 miles on it.

While it's definitely all possible, doesn't really seem plausible.
EDIT: I just thought, this was probably all made possible because he said he was a writer/editor for "Truth About Cars" and threatened bad press. I can see a dealer willing to give a bit more to avoid a black-eye (no matter how trumped up) from press.

Enjoyed the story, but I know that I couldn't pull that off. I know what I'm looking for, and usually have a conversation with the guy that I've bought my cars from for years, and we both agree on a price and move down the road.
Wow, I like the idea of a SBY car.

They were jacking him around on the price of his car. Period.
Case in point.. perfect example.. The 13 boss 302 I want is still on the lot.
I sent the dealership an annon email asking the price of the car. They wanted 20k adm..........
I called the dealer that I have been working with for several weeks on the car... My salesman well sell me this same boss 302 with no mark up at all, and for MSRP. Same dealership..... Even if this car sells before I take ownership he will order the same car for me at MSRP.
There is NO reason to ask for ADM on these cars. WHY? Because EVEN if they sell the car at INVOICE they still will make money on the car.

Of course they will not tell you what I am telling you.
Pay MSRP for the car you want. Usually if you work with a dealership long enough, they will cut the horse S*hit after they know for sure you are serious about purchasing. They should have been prepaired to give him what he wanted for his car after they told him they WOULD. If you can't keep your word on something, even on car pricing your word is piddle squat. If the dealership would not give the guy what he wanted for his car they should have told him NO up front and then he could have worked out some other sort of agreement. If you let the dealer know that you are not out to play games, they usually listen. But you have to be wary and know when and if they are playing games and if they are not. If they have to have $5k ADM...walk.. there are plenty of other dealerships in the US that would love to have you as they're customer and sell you a boss 302 at MSRP.

the guy sounds like an arrogant ***** who always assumed about Mustangs until he actually drove one. I don't care if I was playing "hardball" with a dealer I would never curse them out especially when they were trying to work out a price with me. I understand that dealers want to get as much as they can for the car and I only want to pay 1 dollar for it but when the send you an offer of 17,200 or 17,700 you should take it and not curse them out like a douchebag.
That is why i wanted to read the story when I had time to lol
