Boss Tranny

If it was not for the clunky transmission, I would not ever consider trading in my Boss, but I hate the transmission. How is the tranny going to be on the new GT 350?

I feel like mine isn't that bad. I have a hard time going into reverse but that's about it. That being said, I daily drive mine. It is rough but, then again, the whole car is kinda rough so I guess it doesn't bother me that much. It definitely isn't crazy smooth but it feels normal.. to me. lol

Yeah, I have driven my fair share of stick shifts, including a three speed '54 Chevy Pick Up, and this is the only one I have complained about. I do not have a hard time putting it into gear, not since the first day I had it. Reverse took a few minutes to get down, and I do have the second to third issues most everyone has under higher RPM's. I drove the Focus ST when I was waiting for my Boss oil change, and wish the Boss felt like the ST stick.

Have you tried to upgrade the rear bracket or consider an after market shifter?

Get the Blowfish Racing shifter bracket. Problem solved.
It isn't the transmission, it's the remote mounted shifter that's the issue.

Go Blowfish Racing Shifter Bracket or Go Home...

Repost after you install your bracket.

As posted by dsp, It's not the tranny>>>>it's the remote shifter thats mounted to the trans tunnel. The shifter can not follow the torque of the engine and transmission.

If you want firm, precise shifts you will have some vibration. That's just the way it is. I like the vibration, the more feedback the better. It's like a shifter should be.

MGW shifter, installed at 150 miles, my car shifts perfect to redline, quieter than stock. I'm very happy I'm not even considering the Blowfish bracket. I've got 11k miles on my car, still shifts perfect.

As many have said, try out the BF bracket, if it doesn't work out for you then at least you can add that as a selling point for the next person who owns the car. Just hit 43500 on my car today, had the BF bracket on for about 4k now and though I didn't have issues that would cause me to trade/sell the car the BF bracket has greatly improved the shifting.

I'm thinking about doing this myself just not sure of the noise problem? I'm ok with the vibration it would give a more old muscle car feel to it! :-)

Blowfish is working on a fix for the noise issue that some have encountered. As far as I know he has a prototype in a couple of cars and has seen a significant decrease in noise. If you are concerned, you could wait until a solution is released. The fix will be a retrofit, so you could install a bracket now and see what you have for noise, and put the fix in later. Blowfish isn't going to leave people hanging.

I have no connection to Blowfish Racing, just someone that is happy with the bracket and the changes in made to the feel of my shifter.

Well said. I am testing out one of Steve's fixes and haven't yet been able to modify the bracket he gave me, currently the noise is reduced significantly from the original snout bracket.

299 free shipping from CJ or Lethal and it takes about 1.5 hours including jacking up and down.

What about the Whiteline (?) Bushing?

I think first and second gear are way too short. Just wish they would have used a better tranny from the start, and bigger brakes and wider tires.

Whiteline bushing isn't going to really fix any of the misalignment issues according to others who track their cars.

I started with MGW, then Whiteline bushing, now also have Blowfish bracket. Every one of those things helped (along with removing clutch assist spring). The BR bracket probably has helped the most overall, although even it won't completely eliminate the occasional lockout of gear on fast high rpm upshifts. My next step will be a new clutch because a lot of people swear that's the only way to fully cure the lockout.
