Boss Prototype
My guess is that until a new wheel design passes QC and durability testing they won't be used on a test car that is pushed to it's performance limits. The GT500 SVTPP wheels probably have the closest physical properties out of the available proven wheel designs.
Well, if you can't have a 2012 Boss, you can always mod a GT into a Boss 302 Prototype replica - complete with all the creature comforts AND a tasteful stripe/paint combo. Even without some of the engine goodies and so on, but that's what the aftermarket is for. That blacked-out LS prototype looks so much better.

I think there are going to be a ton of Boss "pretenders" out there in the coming months. Guys are going to stripe their GT's to make it look like a Boss.
I now believe that's why Ford has opted for the painted roof on the REAL Boss 302's. Guys will buy a side stripe package but they won't paint their roofs.
The painted roof will allow you to spot a REAL Boss a mile away.

I do agree though, people will mimic the Boss once the parts are available. I think those going for a clone should stop, but for those of us who want specific individual parts from it should do so carefully and tastefully. If you want a Boss, ante up for one.
" WHAT THE **** DO YOU PEOPLE MEAN BY REFLECTIVE STIPES!?
"
Well, I'm sure that you don't see too many original 1969 or 1970 Boss 302 mustangs in Bulgaria, so this is a fair question. The stripes on the side of the old Bosses look grey during the day, but at night, when light is shined on them, they reflect light like on the backs of running shoes or safety shirts for road crews.
It is actually quite dramatic if an old boss turns in front of you at night. The side stripes light up quite vividly. A black Boss with those stripes will definitely turn your head. There are actually a couple of these old Bosses on the road in the Kansas City, MO area. Kind of strange, but they look just like they did 40 years ago. Imagine that.

I don't know if the roof is painted or not. I know the hood and side stripes were vinyl when I looked at the car at WWDC. They could conceivably use a vinyl wrap on top as a cost savings measure.

The roof is painted. It's mentioned in one or two of the interviews with Ford.

They are not flat black or matte black. they are reflective. they used the same style stripe materials as this car. it reflects the light.

my dad has a 71 torino and its got reflective stripes also, this was a factory ford stripe.
