BOSS on Motorweek tonight @ 8:00 E
Someone post up a youtube link later plz
It showed well and got great reviews!, Funny some of you feel that way about Motorweek. I've been in the automotive business for over 20 years and it is one of the few shows I respect. They give factual reports and they don't resort to stupid unrealistic tests and have biased buttholes for hosts, just saying......
And I wonder how much the funding of this show has influenced the content as we now have to endure 'clean success stories' and have barrels of oil consumed and carbon footprint stats added to every road test? Also, how many mechanics do you know that wear bowling shirts in the garage? Pat Goss is a nice enough guy, but like Davis, they need to shove these guys out the door to Whispering Pines Retirement home.
If you replace the tree hugging success stories with a mod segment, or a rotation of stuff related to 'best used car values' for those looking to buy their first new car, or 'if you own this car, watch out for these 3 things', or even a car audio/gadget/hi performance segment. These were just 3 I came up with off the top of my head, I'm sure there are more.
I never watch it live, and blast thru the crap on my DVR for the lead road test, and check out the motor news and car keys segments. Makes it a lot easier to digest...
John Davis style and delivery were OK when cable TV was first trying to carve out a niche in the broadcast market. Now, 30yrs later since this show debuted, his style and delivery seem better suited for the 80's instead of now where competition actually exists (Top Gear, etc). The cliched segment titles, and the 'eye popping' graphic effects need a complete overhaul.

Very well put, I have to agree. I just hate the spoiled brat behavior the Top Gear show hosts have, it's really annoying, not to mention the shenanigans, it takes away from the real information I want to come away with.
Personally, I enjoy John Davis and Pat Goss. This was one of the shows I watched with my dad growing up and I believe they do any honest job on evaluating the cars and giving the consumers the facts. While I love Top Gear, it is an entertainment show which stars cars and the hosts have a lot of personality. It's a different type of automotive show and I enjoy both for different reasons.
I watched this episode last night and was very happy how with how much they enjoyed the Boss.

I'm still wondering how the hell they post the 1/4 mile time at 12.4 @ 124mph... at the 4:40 mark of the vid. You would think this would be triple checked for accuracy, esp. when every other test on the planet puts the car around 110-114 mph? If there have been any other tests done on a stock Boss over 120mph for the 1/4 mile, I haven't seem 'em.
I think that was the best video review I've seen on the Boss. Very direct, to the point, and accurate. John Davis delivers his no frills factual analysis in his usual style. Everything you want to know that others skip over. Plenty of shots inside and out and ample info. A great review by Motorweek overall! Although amusing, Top Gear would take half an hour to tell you half as much.....

Hahaha, agree. Like I have mentioned before, Top Gear is annoying and for wannabe car guys. Just the facts please.....
No question, Top Gear is a highly rated show, and they achieved this by broadening the audience base to appeal to a greater mass (like families, women, non-car people, etc.). But in doing so, they "ham it up" way too much sometimes like a cheaply done reality show that only moves away from the car(s) their supposed to be evaluating. Almost like taking half an hour to describe what really only took five minutes to unfold. Sometimes I watch the show and after an hour, I'm no further ahead on what the car is really about. It is an entertainment show first, and a car show second, all the while disguised as a true car video-mag. Sort of like the movie "Titanic". It was a love story, and oh yeah, a big ship sank too.........
Regardless of what I think, Top Gear is very popular and a highly rated show, watched by millions of viewers. It's simply not my first choice to get facts about a car. Motorweek's review on the Boss took under five minutes and revealed a lot of great info on the car from nose to tail.

Huge fan of the BBC TG here, however it's as much because I am a fan of British humor as it is that I'm a car nut. I agree it may not be the best source for "just the facts" about a particular car. For facts, I'll usually pick up one of the car magazines that arrives in our mailbox every month. I, too, am waiting patiently for the Stig to drive a Boss.
Absolutely! Lots of car guys watch Top Gear for the entertainment, and even the cars. I too would love to see The Stig take the Boss for a rip around the old airstrip. I think he'd post some pretty impressive times on the scoreboard that would put some "other" cars to shame. There would be very little in the price range that would equal it. Of course they use British Pound values though............
