Boss and Insurance?
Hey, guys, what's the deal with Bosses and insurance? Does your insurance charge you more for a Boss than an GT or is it about the same?

When i got a quote, it was more than a standard GT. My agent worked the numbers a little and I can get around $110 per month with my current company. One thing is that my brother is law owns an '84 ferrari 348TS, even though its an '84, its still a ferrari. he just went with state farm and got a specialized plan for cars you only drive part time, and he only pays $50 per month.
I dont know the coverage or any of the specifics, but I'm going to check it out soon once I get my car delivered and I'll post what I find out.

I would use a collector car company like Hagerty or Grundy, or Heacock insurance for these cars. Even though its a new car, its a limited run car and these companies will insure them and do an agreed upon value. Just a thought.

I just talked to my ins company, State Farm.
$120/month for a boss w/ my coverages and multi car.
$105/month for a non-premium GT w/ same.
these rates are unbelievably high in my opinion given my age, clean record, and term w/ the company. not to happy with them right about now.

y5e06: Sounds high. I'm in Dallas and pay $370/6 months, or about half what you were quoted. I'm with travelers. I had a claim with them on another car last year and they were great.

I went over a number of situations, each one that including stopping at a public place voided my coverage.
on the flip side, state farm said I'm not covered on the track. But they are digging into that one.

My collector car insurance through Nationwide subsidiary American Modern is less than $750 a year for both my 12 Boss with a stated value of $50000 and my 98 Cobra with a stated value of $20000 with 6000 miles allowed per year per car...I now sold the Boss and my insurance will be approx $275 per year with same mileage

I did the same thing with my insurance, put it as "pleasure driving only" or something like that. There are some rules I think about how many miles they expect you to stay under a year, but it's not an issue for me since I don't daily drive it. I don't remember exactly what the numbers were but I think it's about half as much as it would have been as a daily driver, maybe less.

Ha. I pay $216/month for my 2005 Escape, with multi-car/student/home-owner's discounts. I'm 24, almost 25, with a "wet and reckless" though. I have State Farm. Progressive quoted me $550/month on a 2011 GT bad when I was still looking (right after the wet and reckless happened).

My insurance company just views it as any other new V8 Mustang.
