Didn't Shinoda work for Ford when the original Boss was designed and built?

I was under the impression Shinoda had an agreement with Ford which allowed his company use of the name rather than having copyrights. Ford would not have made the investments, commit so many resources, and have production plans unless it stands on solid ground.
IMO there is a gentleman's agreement and doubt there will be a Shelby style court battle.

Shinoda did the refresh on the 70 boss. Cleaned up the front end, flushed up the rear taillights, smoothed out the rear quarters, and designed the new stripes. Other than that I am not sure what else he did at Ford.
