Boss copyright

Didn't Shinoda have the rights to the Boss name? Did Ford buyout the rights or did something else happen?

I'm sure the Ford Motor Company has a lot more money than Shinoda.

Didn't Shinoda work for Ford when the original Boss was designed and built?

Yes, but I thought Shinoda's company recently held all the rights to the name. If they didn't, were they paying Ford to use the name?

I was under the impression Shinoda had an agreement with Ford which allowed his company use of the name rather than having copyrights. Ford would not have made the investments, commit so many resources, and have production plans unless it stands on solid ground.

IMO there is a gentleman's agreement and doubt there will be a Shelby style court battle.

Shinoda did the refresh on the 70 boss. Cleaned up the front end, flushed up the rear taillights, smoothed out the rear quarters, and designed the new stripes. Other than that I am not sure what else he did at Ford.

According to most sources on the web, Shinoda was responsible for the 1969 Boss design, as well as the '70 redo. He also originated the name Boss in reference to Bunkie Knudsen whom he followed to Ford from GM.
