love this thread..... sounds like most of us have the same goal ...500hp N/A at the wheels....... cam shafts def sound like there on my list.....AND maybe if they dont require phase limiters you can get away without tuning them..... a dyno test would tell....
also guys at diablo told me over the phone they were working on tuning software for the red key guys..........

Also I believe SCT is also working on a way to do this as IIRC Lund Racing is working on this as wellsomething I read but I do not know for certain and just .
I'm hoping for something to come of it, cause like I said, I don't want to lose the trackey features. Hopefully they can sort out the tuning portion without losing those.
So my NA build will consist of:
1) CJ Cams
M-6550-M50BINT
M-6550-M50BEXH
2)CJ Intake Manifold
M-9424-M50CJ
3)CJ Throttle Body
M-9926-SCJ
4)CJ MAF 123mm
M-9600-CJ
5)Livernois valvesprings (safety measure)
LPP50-TVS-1733
6)ARP 2000 Rod bolts(safety measure)
Not sure if I need these because I can't find anything stating what rod bolts are in our cars and these were used in the 302R(according to FR, the only failures to the rod during development were attributed to the rod bolt so they switched to these) but I emailed ARP to see what they can tell me.
7)ATI Super Damper
8)Full Kooks Boss 302 exhaust w/ QTP valves
9)Tune
Plan on contacting Ford Racing about this and have a talk with them about the whole VCT thing. If they are making it work on the 13 CJ NA motor, I don't see why they can't lend a hand in some form or fashion, even if its just some tables to use as a baseline.
I'm planning to start ordering these things soon. Hopefully by the time I get home from Kuwait, I should have it all and there will be a tuning solution available for us Trackey guys so we can retain the functionality for the track days. I will be the one to make it happen if I don't get beat to the punch since I'm overseas and can't start till I'm back home lol

You also have a 6 month tour right? Get back soon and get those cams and intake installed and lets see some dyno sheets

tower brace on boss 302
You would have to get a tune for the cams IMO to A) Make the most power out of them and B) You are completely changing your engine parameters and you would need a tune.
Also I believe SCT is also working on a way to do this as IIRC Lund Racing is working on this as wellsomething I read but I do not know for certain and just .
Honestly I don't think Ford Racing will help with the CJ Tune due to the fact that it is such a competitive field. Heck they won't even release the dyno numbers yet.

I would love to run those cams. I like that limiters arent required. had bad experiences with them on my 06 GT when I ran comp cams stage 3 spr's.
I hope sct comes out with trackey tuning that would be nice. I have tried two diff lopey idle tunes and they both sucked. they sounded good but the one just wasnt driveable and the other just felt dead power wise.

I wish...I took the plunge and bought everything and have it all sitting in my garage except the CJ intake manifold/TB. I also decided to go with the ARH Boss X/Stainless Works catback w/ QTP cutouts instead of the Kooks. I was home on R&R in Dec but didn't have enough time to do much other than my suspension/brake/wheel install due to having to spend a few days in Fla chasing down my other car. So until I get back home from Afghanistan, no progress from me unfortunately...
Guess everyone is waiting on my findings lol

I would run the damper at the VERy least, ideally you should upgrade the oil pump gears also especially if you plan on 8200-8400 RPM on a regular basis. The other mod should be better valve springs and retainers while you are doing cams. Stiffer spring will prevent valve float above 8200 and lighter retainers will also help with the revs and keep her together. I ran 8000 plus rev limiter for a couple of months before my blower install and it was awesome. I would also have Jon Lund do the tune as he is the Pioneer in Coyote/Roadrunner processor tuning. He had my car dyno'd and tuned before the first dozen people took delivery of the Boss back in 2011!
