GM not going road racing with the ZL1 but they are going road racing with the 1LE .GM is working every hard right now trying to get the 1LE sanction with the SCCA .GM said they trying to have the cars to the racing teams by fall so they can starting getting them ready for the next racing season . I think it would be narrow minded to take the 1LE lite lee.

I like the added competition and hope this keeps up for years to come. I have a friend of mine that wants a new Camaro and has been thinking about the ZL1. Maybe he'll buy a 1LE and we'll be able to do some side by side comparisons.

GM has always ran on the sales statement! Best Bang For The Buck! The 1LE will not fit in that mission statement. You can get a base GT with Track Pack in the lower 30s. The other problem on past LS motors are bad oil pumps. I belive it started in 2005 and up to 2010. Thats why im glad i didnt buy the 2005 Vette i was looking at before ordering my GT. Ronn

Don't the LSx motors use a crank mounted gerotor (think that's right, the other style escapes me at the moment. I know its not a gear pump like old school ohv Fords and the classic SBC).
Are the pumps exploding? From what I'm reading it seems like the GM engines aren't designed with alot of g-loading in mind. IIRC Ford used a tilt table up to about 45 degrees.

I couldnt tell you what pumps they use. Now most dont have a problem, but i have seen a few 2010 SS going out on Camaro5 forum. I had a 98 Z28, super quick, and no problems. Ron

From a cursory read of several threads started by Corvette racers, without a full-on dry sump system, it sounds like the LSx engines (with one exception) let go during sustained left-hand turns where the cars pull 1.5g or greater. The LS6 appears not to have that problem.
The factory dry sump systems help, but most of the guys are running aftermarket systems with much more capacity, and those systems cost real money. The general consensus was you won't blow if you're not on slicks, and that an Accusump can provide a little wiggle room but it won't save your engine because it can't react fast enough.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 1LE gets a dry sump system for T2 racing.

Maybe the problem with the LS motor going Boom! is a Corvette problem. I am thinking there not enought room in the corvette for GM to put a real oil pan in the thing . So if you don't get a dry sump set-up your screw .
I bet the camaro got enought room for GM to put a real oil pan in the thing. Well I hope or there going to be a lot of **** off people if the motor go Boom on there track days .

idk, i don't think you need slicks to pull 1.5 in a z06. some sticky street tires will do it, the boss on street tires can hit 1.2 or more in some corners. one of the weekends i was at the track a couple guys in z06's were on sticky street tires and on the hoon. some gm guys in watching were wincing when they rounded some of the longer corners.
i still think its odd that i have never seen one new camaro on the track other than a stripped out gt racer one time. ive seen fracking auto dodge srt 8 chargers, but no SS on track.
