They are obviously hanging on the Z28 moniker for future use you can be sure of that...... Doubt we will see it until the release the 6th gen though...
BUT...you never know... They MIGHT be holding on to it to tackle the 13 Shelby but highly unlikely...When and if they do a Z28....you can be sure it will be too heavy to compete and....No forged internals... I can't wait to see what our c5 fan boys start doing when they start modding these 1le's and the ZL1...can you say KAAAAAAAAAAA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM?

Brother, when I saw the big "KAAAAAAAAAAA BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM"

I was sure someone was out to cut my head off.......then reading the post I breathed a sigh of relief as I read the post..........and thought about our so-so transmission........

Know enough SCCA T1 racers running the LS3 and yes they do go K-Boom. The oil temps run insanely high well over 300 degrees without cooler and even an Acusump isn't enough to prevent self destruction.

IMHO the Z28 needs an LS7 then it would be fun, more hp but added weight vs da Boss less hp less weight. Let the pony wars continue.

In the LS' motors defense. I know they are hard to beat N/A on the 1/4 mile when prepped right. I had no idea they were falling apart on road tracks. On the current platform, GM could never take enough weight off to compete with the Boss, and keep it structurally sound. I suspect the Z28 will be on a newer platform, or at least I would hope.

A few points:

Can it redline over 7,000?
Are they shaving off 1,000 lbs?

If the answers to those questions are no, it's a track hobby car - not a Boss.

Also, doesn't matter what GM puts out, it'll be start burning and leaking oil after a few years.

Another thing is, regardless of how great or not-so-great a car GM puts out, it was built using taxpayer money. Me and my children, and you and your children (and really their grandchildren) paid for it.

i.e - they cheated, so side-by-side comparisons don't count

F*** GM. Nothing they produce will ever again occupy my garage.

I saw a bumper sticker on a Ford that read, "No taxpayer was harmed in the production of this vehicle."

Great sticker. Correct me if i'm wrong but did'nt the Gov't (taxpayer) make money on the sale of GM stock that they received in exchange for the loan?

I think its a sharp looking car. With the close ratio trans and a 3.91 rear It should have a good bit more pep than the SS I test drove. Hope they give it more power though since the only advertised weight savings is from the wheels, an LS7 would have been killer.

I suppose all the magazines will be able to report the typical stats and 1-lap lap times, but from the way you guys are talking it'll be on real track days that show how it holds up against the Boss, or any other Mustang for that matter.

No. The treasury is still in the hole and will be unless the stock price of GM goes up. Not sure if this is true, but I read it on the internet..." Taxpayers need at least $53 a share to recover their investment. " Current price $25.25.

And then there is GMAC (Now Ally Bank) which for all intent and purposes will likely be bankrupt in a year requiring yet another bailout. :/

Note : Only available on GT Coupe with manual transmission

But what is the “Brembo Brake Package”?

Well it is more than just brakes………

A lot of folks think the "Brembo Brake Package" (aka Option 55D) is the addition of the Brakes and 19" Wheels and Tires, however, its much more than that…………….

What does the normal 2011-12 GT share with a Brembo Mustang?

Part Specifications that ALL 2011-12 Mustang GTs come standard with including the Brembo Mustang:
  • Rear: 11.8" Vented Rotors with 1-Piston Calipers
  • Sway Bars ( 34.6mm Front/ 24mm Rear)
  • Strut Bar Brace
  • Higher Durometer Rubber Bushings
Then this…..what a standard 2011-12 Mustang GT does not have, that a Brembo Mustang does;

The (55D) Brembo Brake Package includes the following:
  • Front: 14" Brembo® Vented Rotors with Brembo® 4-Piston Calipers
  • 19 x 9.0-inch dark-stainless premium painted aluminum wheels
  • 255/40R19 Pirelli PZero Summer-Only (Coupe)
  • Different Springs (131lbs Front / 167lbs Rear)
  • Different Struts/ Shocks (tuned for spring rates)
  • GT-500 Rear Lower Control Arms ( Higher Durometer Rubber)
  • Unique Electronic Stability Control® (ESC) Tuning
  • Unique Sport Steering Control Setting (EPAS)
  • Tire Mobility Kit Replaces Spare Tire
So its got a little bit of stuff over a normal GT……….
Understood over a Regular GT but I was talking about the Track Pack as compared to just the Brembo kit.

Does anyone have a side-by-side comparison of what parts the 1LE offers vs what parts the BOSS 302 offers? I would do this but I am feeling lazy.

That 1LE Concept has an interesting list. I wonder if the dual mode exhaust will include the quad tip look. Kind of sharp for a Camaro.

On the 2013 GT with Brembo BBP you get every thing he listed BUT the Boss 302 radiator with oil cooler ,the torsen diff. and the 3:73 gears. If you order the Track Pack it will drop the Brembo BBP off the order list beacuse it part of the track pack already and adds on the three items i listed .

Looks like the mustang track pack is the way better deal. I'm pretty sure that 50% of the boss handling can be attributed to that torsen rear diff. Most of us boss guys paid the premium for the resale value and motor. That mustang track is going to be so worth it.

I agree, it's actually not a bad looking Camaro. Then again, I have been a fan since the concept was revealed.

I was wondering if the dual mode exhaust would be an attempt at copying the BOSS' side exits, myself.

It has, and its not quad like the Boss, just "dual mode".
