I had skip shift engage a couple of times last night driving in heavy traffic. The second time I remembered to check the dash and it stated Skip Shift 1--->4 or something like that. I need to get it disconnected soon.

Skip shift is as easy to invoke as it is to disable....
Invoking: With the car at full operating temp and on level ground, simply accelerate slow-to-normal from a stop in 1st gear. At right about 3000 rpm the display in the dash will indicate that skip shift is going to be invoked and if you shift when this message is displayed, you will go from 1st to 4th gear. Try it!
Disabling: With the car cool, you have just to reach up on the trans on the passenger side (pics are elsewhere on this forum) and disconnect the harness to the solenoid. I would advise taping up the harness and the connector to protect them from debris and moisture and then zip tie the harness from dangling down. After disconnecting the harness, you will still get the message (above) in the dash display, but the ECU will not be able to control the solenoid to invoke the "skip". Unlike the GM cars, Ford programmed the ECU NOT to complain when it doesn't "see" the solenoid. (Thanks Ford!)

I have 2300 miles on my car and only had it engage a couple of times. I usually shift at 2K in normal High MPG cruise mode (23mpg). Otherwise I find my shifts just kind of happen around 5-6k. (Yes I love this car) Makes sense that it occurs at about 3k, I was wondering if it really had it or not, or I was just experiencing the tricky shifter others had commented on.
I plan to leave it as it is not obtrusive at all to me.
On my vette it was hard to avoid the skip shift, had to be more than 1/2 throttle which gets a lot of the wrong kind of attention. a simple resister and connector kit fixed that. Yes the Vette seems slow now.

What? This car has skip shift?
2300 miles and haven't seen it yet--but I like to hear the motor above 3k
.
Seriously, if it does give me issues in the future, I'll pull the plug.

I have not seen the 1-4th but I think that it is trying to do a 3-6th at times.??
Maybe an adjustment? If I step on it in 3th and shift swiftly to 4th, it seems to
be trying to go into 6th or hitting between 4th and 6th. Maybe just me also?
Anyone else having this happen?

That will soon be my second mod, not liking the skip shift feature. You can override it & still shift 1 - 2 but it takes extra effort.
My restrictor plates were drilled out to 3/4" within a few days.

I test drove a Boss last night and didn't buy it because it kept "skip shifting". It felt like I had to fight the car to get it to go to second. Seriously disappointed me
Now that I know there is a fix I may have to go back there tonight to grab it up!
