BOSS 228 GETS TRACKEY 11/18/11
BOSS 228 GETS TRACKEY 11/18/11
The install went very smooth in and out within an hour.
I ordered my car in 9/2010 and the dealer had know idea what they had at the time. So my deal was at invoice and a WE-OWE from the dealer for the Trackey program when it became available. My salesman called last week with my appointment for the program but was quick to tell me it cost $302 + labor. I reminded him about the WE OWE and they were actually going to honor it. I felt bad, so I told him I would pay for the program if they covered the labor which they did. Great group of guys.
I must say though it may not be the best $302. I have ever spent. Maybe I just need to drive it a little more. I can`t tell a hole lot of difference.
Has anyone seen the message display TRACK IDLE ENABLE or TRACK ENGINE ENABLE???
I have not seen either display but after our test drive the mechanic who loaded the program said he could tell a difference in the idle.... It felt the same to me.
I received my 91+ sticker with the program and the lame fender sticker within a few days of the install. No instructions, no thank you,... nothing... which I thought was pretty weak for $302.
I think Ford could have done a little better job on the release with some nice packaging, DVD instruction and little more bang for the buck.
Still love everything about the car but bottom line if you want an on the edge performance tune my opinion Trackey is not it.

Yep and it shows in the photo posted.
The TK Engine or Idle Enabled comes on after the car has reached operating temperature and 130 seconds have elapsed. You are using the red key right?
Ford never promised TK was going to transform your Boss into something else. If all you're buying it for is the idle then yeah I'd pass too. I'm happy with mine and have been running the red key most of the time since my install.

Oh and when track is mentioned it is for a road course not drag strip....
I get what is displayed in the picture.
I have not seen Trackey Engine or Idle Enabled.
Does the engine need to "remain at idle" for 130 seconds without be disturbed after reaching temperature?
I have only run it about 30 minutes since the install and I am pretty certain I was unable to keep my foot off the throttle for that long

So when do you use the launch control on the road course?
not trying to be smart, but launch control is for just that...launching! Drag strip only of course. Lol
You will not get Engine/idle enabled if there are any misfires, codes, etc. One person posted that the skip shift disabler caused his car to not go into engine/idle enabled mode.
What do you guys feel that you can say is noticeably different when you switch to the red key?
As I said I have not had the opportunity to drive it in the past week but they are calling for good weather on Saturday.

No. Just drive it around. Once the engine has hit 170 and the 130secs have elapsed since hitting 170, you should get the engine or idle enabled display when you are NOT at idle. If you were at idle for the 130 secs after 170 temp is reached, a blip of the throttle will initiate the engine or idle enabled display. If you don't change your display, the two messages "Trackey enabled" and "engine/idle enabled" will alternately display.

If you think the trackey has been developed for the drag strip you really don't get what the boss is about, nor the trackey.....
Not being smart either....

Ever hear of the world challenge series? Did you know the race starts with a standing start? By the way the boss dominated the series this year.....

I got the wheels for 228 off one of the 302S cars of Dean Martins from the Challenger Series.
The absolutely first thing I noticed was throttle response/engine braking. Put the car in first gear, run up to about 25mph, take your foot completely off the gas. Report back if you didn't put your head through the windshield -- lol
Man I thought the engine braking was crazy strong with the black key.
I am going to play with it tomorrow. I will post up if I really notice the difference along with the TK Engine message.
Thanks.
REALLLY then why the heck would there be a 2 step launch control OH YEAH FOR DRAG RACING........

point of the boss is def a road carving high revving machine, but ford wanted to give the owners all they could so each owner can enjoy there car any way they can, not all of use have road courses around that are available every weekend, however the drag strip is for 40 bucks for the day.
best part of the last time i went to the drag strip, the camaro owner that said after i told him my few mods that he is trading his car in for a BOSS right after my 11.9 pass
I drag my car once a week,if that, and I try to hit the track at least once a month...I traded my M car in so that I could have the best of both worlds, but definitely a 95% bias towards tracks/canyons.
that being said, I still don't think I'll be getting the tk. I want to do a couple boltons and those don't go well with each other

twawsico Those instructions say it came from the Cobra Jet and 302S. Easy fellas.
the pit lane speed control was taken from the 302s
ie they gave us all they could
next year though i hope to make it to watkins glen, louden and limerock..... but the every weekend will be the dragstrip
WOW!!
It sounds like Trackey ranks right up there with soft ice cream and sliced bread!!!
It is the BEST of both worlds!!
I will find out today the weather is going to be SUNNY and SIXTY in western PA on 1/26!!
I will report back latter...
