BBS Boss 302R wheel
See attached link: This is only one quick example.

I read in several places that the drag guys are fitting 335's in the rear. No cutting or grinding.

But then there were some good posts
Disclaimer: I didn't take the time to read the linked threads......... But, I'll comment anyway
It's good to remember that putting a fat-a$$ tire on your car and turning the wheel while it's in the driveway or on a lift may be fine and dandy for straight-liners........... But when you're hitting peak g-forces of 1.1 or 1.2 in a high speed sweeper, that over-sized bulging hunk of rubber is going to take on shapes you never dreamed of
I'll be curious to see what kind of max/peak G's the LS pulls with the stock rubber. I ASSume that nifty little gauge tells you both max. and avg. g-forces.......
No I'll stick with whatever tire Rehagen races on, and not just because I buy their scuffs for cheap

Amen.
lol, the car owner in the link I posted ran 315/18's most of the year. Without calling him, I don't know for sure if he has any type of rubbing, but as far as I remember, he did not roll the front fenders. He competes, as I do, in SCCA Solo2 ESP at the local, Divisional, and National level. He also has a co-driver who did very well in 2010 including the National Championships in Lincoln, NE. Highest finishing S197. 315's are run by most competitors in the class (if you can fit them). This especially holds true for the heavier Mustang and Camaros vs. the WRX. We pull 1.2-1.3g's peaking at 1.4 on high grip surface events using 315's in a 3400 lb LS1 Camaro. I know of a few who tested 285 vs. 315. I hear 285's transition better and have better steering (turn-in) response, but 315's have considerably more overall grip.
Autocross may not have upper speed sweepers compared to roadrace tracks, but decently prepared cars certainly push the softer "A6" Hoosiers to their limit. My "fyi-" post was to note that 315's fit, that's all. Whether or not 315's (R6) are slower on a roadcourse because they weight more, have heavy side-wall flex, drag, etc. remains to be investigated or tested.
Cheers,
Dave

Personally, after driving both the Boss and the Laguna (with staggered tire sizes), I would square up and run 275s all the way around. The 275 fits the wheel much better too. It gets better wear also. The Boss is an AWESOME car and you will LOVE it! I just got back from testing the Boss S with Ford Racing and am still grinning. What an amazing engine!

What size wheel are they running with the 315s? I've been told by several people that track their S197s that 275...maybe 285 is the biggest that will fit up front without an SLA.

"Trust me I want to run the widest tire I can up front." Let me rephrase: "widest tires I can run all around". I would be more comfortable putting a 315 out back than up front. There's more room in back...so just meant the widest tire up front and then would match it up in the rear. So anyway 06GT, you are right on track about squaring them up

The front spacer comment is interesting, I hadn't thought about that before. That would add a little wider front track and give some more front grip.
Trust me I want to run the widest tire I can up front. I just got an email from Dean Martin at Rehagen Racing regarding the max tire sizes that would fit running the BBS 302R wheel.

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Sam Strano posted in this thread:
https://themustangsource.com/f669/wh...inside-491566/
That he runs all around a 295 on a 8.5" wheel for autocross, which surprised me, as did the posts here.
I can't imagine a 315 up front, but looks like it can be done.

I've got a set of 315/18 Hoosiers sitting in my garage. Why I would buy these if they didn't fit........
Dave
I did post in another thread about the BBS Boss 302R wheels that I bought from Rehagen. They recommended the 275/35/18 all around, with 1/8" spacers in front. I don't have my Boss yet to put them on, but I'll post when I do.
Boss 302S
Just ordered a set of Boss 302S wheels made by BBS from Rehagen. They look exactly like the "R" wheels, except they fit on 1/2 studs and do NOT require spacers. AND...they come in both black and silver
