Anyone take pics under their car?? Trying to figure out if side pipe design changed
I got under my new car yesterday to remove the restrictors and noticed something that has my curiosity piqued. i didn't take pics under my old boss to prove my theory, but i think ford has changed the design of the side pipes in later builds. I'm 90% sure that 0001 has a singe diameter pipe from the H to the tip that mounts in front of the rear wheels. The new boss has sections of tubing that taper down towards the tip with each section welded. I don't recall 0001 looking like that at all. I recall a bent section of one piece tubing. i also noticed this morning on the first drive of my new car with no restrictors that it is not as raspy and doesn't pop like 0001 did around 3000 rpm. Anyone have pics of their side pipes, especially early builds so i can satisfy my curiosity?

Well, well...look at the big brain on Brad, I mean Shane. Another photo of an early 302:

There is a longer piece from the "disc" junction, then a longer flex-pipe and then a single piece, instead of the multiple welded piece, before it goes to the flat pipe.

I was right! that last pic is what 0001 had and the first one is my current car. I was going to take pics under mine for you wisenhiemers, i just didn't have a chance. was getting ready for my sons b-day. wonder why the change, i get it was to reduce the popping and raspy note, it was rather truck-like on my first boss.

That photo is of a pre production car. If yours was the same then it had pre production parts on it. Maybe they were using up what they had? I started a thread here back in January about the side pipes with photos and s197ford commented about it.

interesting. That second shot is definitely what 0001 has on it. like i said, not nearly as raspy and it doesn't pop like 0001 did around 3k. any of you other early build guys check what your car has under it, i am curious how many used those pre-production parts.

dont need them now, that second pic is exactly what the 0001 car has. i looked at those parts when i pulled them to take the discs out of the first car and thought they sure did look hard to make. they were a lot lighter though. 0333 has the first pic parts.
