Anyone Install a Hurst Shifter in Their Boss?

I had a Hurst shifter in my 06 GT and loved it. Looking for feedback from anyone w/a Hurst on their Boss.

Thanks.

Love the Hurst shifter in my Boss. Under 30 minute install. No more reverse lockout. Comes with the white Hurst shift ball but the T handle also looks nice.

Imo the 2013 should come with the T-handled Hurst shifter just like the '70 did.

@69mustangman,

Old school cool.

I had that shifter in my 69 AMX 390. Might get one for the Boss as well, very nice.

Before I took delivery, I was strongly considering ordering an MGW shifter. I loved the one in my '06 and wasn't sure what the factory shifter would be like.

But to be honest, I'm glad I waited--I'm very happy with the stock shifter on the Boss. The throws are pretty short, minimal shift effort is required, and the center return is strong.

1. The T handle looks great!

2. The only gripe I have about the stock shifter is that it is a little to short for my taste. Is the Hurst shifter a little "taller" than stock?

Thanks.

The Hurst is taller. Has a better feel. I have the Hurst in my '69 Mach with the T as well.

I liked the stock shifter in the Boss much better than the 5 speed in our '10 but didn't like the reverse lockout. Hurst gets rid of the lockout and is a little shorter in the throw.

I agree. Having shifted a factory '69 4 speed I totally understand why many in the day threw it out and replaced it with a Hurst. Night and day difference and since my 69 has a Hurst vs factory I figured why not carry the theme over to the 12.

I was reading on some website about the hurst shifter. I think it was latemodelresto.... It was their favorite shifter out of all that they test. I will be getting a shifter sometime at this one is at the top of my list...

The T handle looks right at home in the Boss.

I had a tri ax in my 03 Mach and while it was much better than the factory one I prefer the Hurst. I haven't used anything else so I can't compare. But if you go with it then check out American Muscle. They had better pricing compared to the Hurst website. I did get the billet grommet from Hurst but after I had already bought the T handle from a local auto store otherwise I'd have bought the handle from them too.

Nope. Easy enough to do but figured if I can't tell the difference between 1st and reverse I better give it up. Once you run it a few times you know how much pressure it takes for either one.
Thanks. I just switched back to the ball vs T and realized I really don't like the ball do the T is going back on.

I thought the same thing...until I installed the MGW.

Get the MGW. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

HANDS DOWN the best shifter; HANDS DOWN the best customer service.

Here's a link to the site I bought it from which includes an installation video. Hurst sells them direct as well but for a lot more. I did get the billet grommet from Hurst.
