Am I the only guy That would like hands-free cellphone 'Sync' in his Boss 302,...?
#21
So,.... is there perhaps some way to activate the existing Boss radio to get Sync to function in the car?
........or, would it be easier to replace the radio the Boss with an 'regular' Mustang radio that offers Sync?
In a week's timehe new law kicks in, it'll cost me $200 bucks for getting caught picking up the Blackberry and answering it in the Boss. There'll be no shortage of people that believe in this new law ready to turn anyone in they see breaking this law, and besides the Boss is a busy car to drive as it is in city traffic witout answering cellphones.
Does anybody know the Boss radio/wiring intimately thjat can offer some advice?
Cheers,
Jouster

I was impressed with Sync for the first few days, then a couple things changed that;
1. I plugged in my iPod with the USB cable and realized that the streaming sounded like garbage compared to USB and was a PITA to startup when you first jump in the car
2. The Sync started eating (corrupting) iPods that were connected via USB, requiring a full restore and re-index, after they just went to "Indexing" endlessly (2 so far; one Touch, and one Nano)
3. The voice control decided to work about half the time
4. The instructions are written by engineers, not product specialists
5. The support is in India, and 98% useless
6. The #$^%$& bluetooth/phone interaction works about half the time.
7. I want to throw it in a dumpster and replace with an aftermarket unit that is better designed and actually works consistently. This POS is the car stereo equivalent of Windows ME, IMO.
8. The update process is needlessly frustrating, and the last update didn't fix anything.

Not sure what you mean about "turning people in"? I don't think you can call a hotline and report people for driving while on a cellphone.

I have Sync in my 2011 F350 and it is awesome. Ford hit home run with this. Most people know when I'm in my Boss I'm not going to answer the stupid phone anyway.

Hi everyone, I'm with the In-Vehicle Technology Team. I'm here to assist with SYNC, navigation, and MyFord Touch related questions.
TheFordStory.com is a website that allows customers to submit their ideas and others can vote if they like it or not. I'd recommend submitting your idea to have the SYNC option in the BOSS, or to offer an aftermarket kit. Here's a link where you can do so:

I think jedikd, is right. The article you're referring to was more than likely about MyFord Touch. Our owners tell us that they love MyFord Touch and are very satisfied with it, yet we know that we can further improve the experience. We're listening to our customers and incorporating your feedback as we further evolve the software.
I'd like to look into some of these concerns for you. I have not heard of any iPods being corrupted. Did this happen to you specifically? Do you know which update you installed? Can you also provide me the carrier, make, and model of your paired phone?
Also, the SYNC/In-Vehicle Technology Department call center is based out of Michigan, not India.
Please PM me to ensure I see your response.

All my info is from magazine reviews. There was one article that talked about how ford quality dropped several rankings this past year simply because sync became overly complicated this past year. I've never actually used it, so maybe its just that the people writing the reviews are less tech savy than my mom. Who knows.

FordIVteam,
Submitted and idea on thefordstory, allowing for retro-fit instal on our 2012 cars. I agree with some of the posters above, and believe that SYNC is an important safety feature.

The India support I mentioned was when I was trying to get help with the Sync Destinations app via the Sync My Ride website chat support. Bad experience.

Having said that, I already have a set of HIDs in my garage and I am looking for an alternative to Sync anyways. Who knows, maybe I'll just buy the sync system sub-parts and add it myself then get the programming taken care off. Gotta admit though that the LCD screen looks slick on the other cars it has been introduced on

I saw it at the Ford dealer where a personal friend of mine is the Performance Car Sales Manager. I asked what the differences between a Boss 302 will be for 2013 vs the 2012. He pulled up the letter sent out by Ford stating that new colors were to be added and the new stripe package. I asked because I wanted Grabber Blue originally until I saw the Yellow Blaze in person. Additionally it stated there would be potentially a market adjustment in pricing.
With nothing being different but colors and stripe package and possible price increase.... I bought the 2012 Boss in Yellow Blaze.......

[QUOTE=FordIVTteam;6131255]I'm glad you submitted your idea! Get out there and vote people!

Thanks for the support Jaclyn, on tabling the idea of Sync becoming retroactively available in the 2012 Boss 302 in Ford's website. This handsfree feature is past the 'option stage,' and is quickly becoming a 'must have' to conform with growing legislation against drivers talking on cellphones.
Your continued help in promoting this idea is appreciated.
I'm wondering if a new Thread dedicated to promoting this idea on the Ford Webisite and asking people to support Sync by going to the site and voting wouldn't be in order?
Cheers,
Jouster
