So I'm in negotiations to get my next set of orders in the navy. Right now I'm in talks to go to their post graduate school out in Monterey, CA. Little did I know where Monterey was and thus I now know that most of my 'education' won't happen there in Monterey but in nearby Salinas. This could be bad.... 20 mins to Laguna Seca? Talk about an awesome opportunity! Fingers crossed for me to be out there early next year.

 

I've been to Monterey/Salinas/Laguna Seca on numerous occasions. I've also had the opportunity over the past 30 years to see most parts of the world - thanks to the day job. Monterey is one of the finest spots on the planet, IMHO. You'd be a very lucky man to have the opportunity to spend some time there. Negotiate hard!!

Well it looks as if my negotiations paid off. I have a verbal to Monterey to get my masters degree. Not sure when I'll be out there but unless something crazy happens, I'll be there definitely by the spring. Now I have to figure out how to get the cars there!

 

I was just out in Monterey last week. Carmel was freaking gorgeous. The water is pretty cold but the area is great. I'm sure you will have a blast living out there!

What will you be studying at NPS? I was doing research at the Spacecraft Research and Design Center there a couple years ago. Beautiful campus!!

 

Right now, it's going to be undersea warfare. Hopefully it's interesting!
