In case you have not heard, some sad news; William F. Barr passed away on Jan 10th 2026 at 88 years young.
Mr. Barr was employed with Ford Motor Company for 34 years as an engine engineer. He was the Principal Design Engineer behind two of the best performance engines of the 60's muscle car era; 428 Cobra Jet and the BOSS 302.
Bill worked in the Ford engine development and engineering program where he modified 351C cylinder heads to work with the "wet" 302 intake manifold, this was instrumental in developing the high-performance V8 for the Trans-Am racing series ...thus the BOSS 302 was born!
