So, the other day, happen to be talking about the many rare or 1of1 BOSS models and the subject came up re Ford's LID (Low Investment Drivetrain) Mid-Engine BOSS '9... What?, i had heard about this project vehicle longtime ago but with very few details, did not know it housed a BOSS 429 cid!
According to Mac's Motor City Garage write-up; the Mid-Engine B'9 may still exist and housed in someone's private collection.
a home movie / video (w/no audio) recorded back in 1969 by Kar Kraft employee Larry Lawrence features several test mules, including the 1967 Mach 2 (also mid-engine) and the Mid-Engine B'9 (time stamp 4:33 thru 5:23), article and video links below, ck it.

Also it's a Time Period I Personally am Very Found of as it Was During My Childhood when Mainly Form Not Function was My Thought Process. Just Wanting to be Old Enough to get Behind The Wheel! Hammer Down! The Boss 429 Was the Mystery Motor as Most Would Only See in car Magazines!

another B302 that i'm in the process of researching is Smokey Yunick's 1969 T/A BOSS.
this is one out of seven test mules, ordered by Ford Administration Service Dept and sent to Kar Kraft for the then "new BOSS302" project.
i believe it still exists and resides in a not-for-profit, historic vehicle museum; 3Dog Garage, Boyertown PA. -C
In case you have not heard, some sad news to share; Howard P Freers passed away on Jan 30th 2024 at 97 years young, known as the "Boss of 302".
Mr. Freers was employed with Ford Motor Company for 33 years (1955 - 1988), was named Chief Engineer for Powertrain Systems in 1967 and later appointed Chief Engineer for Light & Luxury Cars.
In 1968, Semon E "Bunkie" Knudsen / President of Ford assigned Shinoda and Freers to create an even higher performance Mustang... the rest, BOSS history!
