The funny thing is I didn't know anyone growing up who owned either models. My dad, myself, relatives and friends were mostly diehard fan boys!
My uncle had a 66 Fairlane GTA, 390, loaded with options he bought new, looking back it was probably highland green, green interior. Kept it till the early 2000 era. Ironically he's also the one that bought my 70 fastback new and sold it to my dad in 72. Still in the family.

My aunt had a 67 Fairlane GTA, 390 in the Burnt Amber Brown. I was young and did not realize what she had until years later. Other than her being a chain smoker, that would have been a car that would be nice to have today. I am certain she had no idea what she had. It was just transportation she bought in the mid-70's.
The exterior was nearly identical to this one... Though the interior was the brown color instead of white.
My Daughters Daily Driver For Years Got it For Her at 15 and Andrew Drove It Till She Got License at 18. 390 Auto/Air/Automatic Car With GT Hood!

Everyone talking about finding Torinos and Fairlanes and liking them with age, my love of the Ford Mid size cars never left, I started with a 72 Ranchero GT.
Not my Car but the Color is the same. .

Nice find, Ken! In my honest opinion, I found the 1972-79 Gran Torino designed Ford Ranchero as the most appealing.
