2012 BOSS HOOD
#21
Unless you're some bigwig Ford exec like Bill Ford himself or someone in a special development team (which they can't keep the car anyways), if it's in the order guide the dealer has no way if ordering it. Not trying to be difficult, it's just the way it is. In order to get the option on the car, it has to be coded as such. There is no code for the hood alone in the ordering system. And even if you tried it the system would kick it out.
An example would be like trying to order the GT500 Recaros in the GT, even if you put the order code in the system would just kick it back and the only thing you would accomplish is delaying your order until the dealer submits a corrected valid order.

It doesn't matter if it is or if it isn't.

The hood is a unique design where louvres/vents are placed in the Cobra hood to give maximum heat evacuation from the engine compartment. At the front of the louvres there is a nice radius rise to provide the proper low pressure area and pull air flow out of the engine compartment. This has proven to reduce under hood temperature and allow the engine to run cooler.
1994-1998 Heat Extractor Hood
- Vacuum bagged carbon - 8 lbs./$1195
- Fiberglass - 20 lbs./$599
1999-2004 Heat Extractor Hood
- Vacuum bagged carbon - 8 lbs./ $1195 each
- Fiberglass - 20 lbs./$599
Look at the years they are made for
Thanks

That's a disclaimer so nobody sues them when they wreck, it's not a crash tested hood.

Tiger Racing Boss 302S Hood
The first production Super Louvered hood for the 2005-09 Mustang hits the floor. Designed with a complete inner frame, this is a true bolt on with hinge and latch plates built in.
According to Tiger Racing's Paul Brown: "They are available in both fiberglass and carbon fiber. The fiberglass will be less expensive. The carbon will be for weight reduction only, we are not planning a cosmetic or clear carbon version because of the complexity the louvers add which would make the price jump above what we think is reasonable."

Has anyone seen the quality? I saw several GT500 "KR" style fiberglass hoods and they were awful. Not to mention they weighed more than the aluminum stock hood. How does the weight of these hoods compare to stock? If it's a street driven car, is there an issue with getting too much water in the engine compartment if caught in the rain? I think airbox is closed off enough from the top that you shouldn't be at risk of getting water in the intake.

That said, probably would be similar to one made by Cervini or HO Fibertrends quality-wise.
