I wouldn't mind seeing the Mach1 name plate come back for a while. Just saying.

I would love to have a Boss and a Mach1. Especially if they put a NA 351 in the Mach1.

Wouldn't that be sick? My thoughts exactly.

That'd be cool if Ford actually developed an NA 351 right now....but they didn't.

I bought a Boss for the fun and enjoyment, but also partially for the exclusivity of a limited run. Keeping fingers crossed.
Yup!

I dunno, I think they'll just improve on the already available track pack GT, since that's more similar to what the 1LE is. Besides, what would they do for the stripes in a third year Boss, make up something new?

This review seems objective and prefers the mustang although says that it's possible the 1LE could lap equal or faster times depending on driver. It's a drivers race for sure, which one will be easier to drive will probably get better times consistently regardless of which has higher limits.

after reading the reviews on the 1LE i realized that i live the real world and advertising is advertising. Ford and Chevy have been locked in battle before i could think of driving -- mortal combat

putting the right pieces in place for a show is critical, and in this case i can bet that VIR was rented for a few days to get the best lap and find the quickest lines - pushing the car to the ragged edge of performance.

4 seconds is a lot, a whole lot to swallow. with a 3900lb car (granted the magnetic suspension is stellar) with sub 450hp would seem like a closer match -- not an overwhelming overthrow of the kingdom.

putting my view in perspective; one summer I managed a kart racing track and during a intro to kart racing a guy was out testing a Birel Shifter Kart (approx 28hp), the lead instructor explained that racing is all about "seat time" -- got into a 12hp Yamaha kart and chased down the guy with twice the horsepower, and after 3 laps he past him -- only for a short time though.

Point is that are very few people who can drive these cars at their limits, most are unsure of how far they can go.... I would bet if you put equal drivers (side by side) with equal seat time in both of these car the numbers will be a heck of lot closer and representative of both cars "true" abilities.

I will be looking for that head to head test

I think this sums up the authors article nicley; "Remember that the benchmark for the Boss 302 was the BMW M3, while the benchmark for the Camaro 1LE was the Boss 302. That shows in the way they drive: The Boss likes to be finessed, while the Camaro 1LE needs to be hit with a hammer."

I still dont buy the BS GM is spewing, the 1LE is nothing more than a SS with a 3500 dollar option checked off....the Boss is its own car. The 1LE also does not have MRC, it has the regular SS suspension with some different pieces and tuning. The tires are different too. The course they ran at VIR is a different layout than the actual full course I believe....GM at its finest once again

seriously though, the 1LE looks like a parts bin car, ZL1 wheels and wing, a flat black hood and different badging, still an ugly SS....please

Yep, something stinks about the 1LE. I'd rather see a head to head comparo using the same driver on the same day at the same track in as close to the same conditions as possible.

Maybe EVO magazine will get hold of the ZL1 and 1LE, the M3 will win (it always does) but something might be gleaned from the encounter with perhaps a mention of the Boss in comparison to the 1LE.

Winding Road just reviewed the 1LE.

Ford’s Boss 302, a car the 1LE desperately wants to best, features styling that harkens back to classic models, and features a design that isn’t overdone. The Boss graphics package is enough to point out that it’s a special car, and that’s all that’s needed

Issues aside, the 1LE, like most V-8 muscle cars, has a very likeable personality. No, it isn’t as good as a Boss 302, and it’s especially not as good as the ZL1. It does elevate the standard Camaro SS to a more desirable place in the automotive world. If you’re looking for something beyond the SS, but aren’t ready for the extra power of the ZL1 or the raw Z/28, then a used 1LE might just be the Camaro for you.

IDK; How come every time I pull up next to a Camaro or pulls up next to me, it's the Boss that's getting looked over by the Camaro driver???

It is what it is; we have a very unique car and chevy's trying to catch up to compete with a Boss 302 that's in it's last days of production. I'm not a hater. I've had many GM's. I'm thankful I was able to acquire the Boss 302.

I think with the info thats coming out on the Z28, that car is a serious track beast. A/C optional , no radio..
The 1LE VS BOSS 302, I'd say its much much closer to even or better for the BOSS 302.

Eh, I think when the Z/28 comes out people will buy it and never track it. And those that do will probably still lose to Boss's since the serious guys will have upgraded and still saved money compared to the Z/28.
