Well keep in mind that this car isn't designed to go in a straight line. Who knows what the conditions were like and what kind of 60' they managed. We need more test data from more sources.
I could care less if this thing was slower in the 1/4 mile than the new Fiesta.
1 second faster than the M3 around Laguna Seca is the only performance figure I'm concerned about. If you are concerned about straight line performance, pick up a GT500 or a GT with a Whipple.

I understand its very limited but it seems to be more hype than facts for whats avail in the ford lineup.
I was thinking of ordering one this week but I think my common sense just kicked in. I think i will spend a couple grand and boost my HP over 650 and buy some suspension parts for better traction and handling
just my 2 cents
I want to see a LS vs a GT500 trck pck (canadian trim name) as from what I am reading for the same price of what I paid for my 11 its less of a car.

As a fellow GT500 owner, there's one issue that needs to be addressed in this post. I am willing to be that my GT500 as it sits (modded to hell) will beat my Boss in stock form on a road course. What you can't get around with the GT500 is the heat soak after 4 or 5 laps in 85+ degree weather. Racing the GT500 with track pack stock for stock might beat the Boss in a 2 lap race. After that, I am willing to bet the GT500 either checks out or is pulling so much timing that the Boss wins. I'll know a lot more in a month.
Also in my city people are being ridiculous and paying 15k over tag on the regular Boss. My friend is a sales manager at our biggest svt dealer and he cant even believe it.
yeah i am sure that is probably true but I am looking at the fact that most people will spend 90-95% on the street not on a track. There also has been alot of improvment on the 2011 vs the other years for heat soak and the alum block helps alot with handling.

either way i love both cars for what they are just think it wouldnt make much sense for me to pay more for a Boss

The Boss is a hot little Mustang, for what it is.
Being,on a retirement income, can't afford any of those Mustangs you mentioned, but can afford to keep up with most of the new stuff, with what's
in my little avatar picture.
The aluminum block does help with handling I'm sure. What did they do to resolve heat soak? I'm already running a race radiator and huge twin fan heat exchanger. I have to dial the HP down from 640 to 575 with a larger pulley on the road course even with the substantial cooling upgrades. I can't imagine Ford put on anything comparable to the C&R radiator and heat exchangers.
As for the 1/4 mile time of the Boss I'll wait to see this car get into more peoples hands. Just like we saw with the GT they run a lot faster than the mag times with a good driver.

I tend to agree, maybe they're just pipe dreams but I was expecting very low 12's on the 1/4. I think in the right hands it should do it. My Vette did a 12.3 stock with less rwhp and crappy 2.56 rear gears, granted it has a 400 lb. advantage, I think the Boss should be in that neighborhood. I am pretty sure that after a few digs I should be able to hit my target e.t.
