What engine oil, gasoline are you guys using?
My 2015 EcoBoost convertible just went over 200 miles. I filled her up with premium gas, but couldn't really feel a difference. I was thinking about doing my first oil change with Mobil 1 5W30 at 3000 miles. Is this good or should I change it sooner? What type of oil, gasoline are you guys using for your ecoboost cars?
Shell is my usual fill and I've yet to change the oil but I might just fill it with the same oil I use in the Shelby - Joe Gibb's Driven 5w50 pending on what I find out about running a 50 weight oil in the 5.0
Seems like it would work since they ran the same in the Boss cars and the Driven 5w50 oil is formulated specifically to work with the 5.0's VVT.

And Motorcraft Full Synthetic 5-20w
With a Ford Racing Filter (Filters out more particulate with a higher flow rate. Slightly wider than your standard motorcraft filter).
Not an ecoboost car though.

I happen to work at Costco in the gas station at my location. I use ours and have never had a problem. I get people telling me they get better mileage, and I get people telling me they get worse. So long as you trust the vendor, you won't see a lot of difference. Base gas is pretty much all the same, what makes Chevron gas Chevron, is the Techron additive. Same with Shell and V-Power.

I was glad to see Costco added to the Top tier list, the additive package in Costco gas is pretty good, they definitely don't skimp on it. Will definitely be using it when a station gets added to my location.
Are the full specs - pounds pressure, flow, etc. - the same for the FL-400S as the FL910S? I seem to recall reading some time ago that there are differences other than size of the "can" in Motorcraft filters.
Filters are made to generic SAE specs. The FL910S was first spec'd on the Chrysler 2.2 motor in the early 80's. More recently the 2.4 used in the PT Cruiser called for the FL910S and the larger FL400S was spec'd for the turbo version of the motor. The FL910S is used on more industrial engines than any other filter, it is not a Ford specific oil filter.
If you dig around for performance specs you will find more variation from manufactuer to manufacture of the same spec filter than you find between these two filters from the same manufactuer.
Other than burst pressure the only spec that counts is the pressure at which the filter bypasses. The FL910S and FL400S have the same 12-14 psi in the Motorcraft brand. The S in the number means they both have silicone anti-drainback valves.
