Turns out the new M3/4 didn't lose as much weight as promised either.

It looks to be only about 80lbs lighter than the out going E92 M3.

True, but the scuttlebutt is it didn't lose that much or any weight to the outgoing model.

yea i was disappointed with the f80 as well. planning on canceling my order, selling my 335i and going for the 50th anniversary

I hope I'm wrong but I've been saying I can't see how the new mustang would lose any weight. At this point I'm just hoping it didn't gain any. But again hopefully I'm wrong, time will tell.

 

i mean high selling dealers should be getting allocations. and ken grody ford - buena park is near me. talked to a sales agent and he said he will get his hands on 1 of the 3 they are ordering for me he tried convincing me for a stage 3 roush 2014 mustang too hahaha. test drove it and **** it's one hell of a car

 

Or save your pennies for the GT350, if you were going for the M3 it seems like that would be more your style.


The anniversary car is pretty cool but its a dolled up Mustang GT, probably good as a collector's item but if high performance is your thing the GT350 will better serve your needs.

 

That's what I'm thinking. Ford isn't crowing about a lighter weight Mustang. I'd be shocked if they were able to pull a substantial amount of weight out of the new car if at all.


Frankly I wont be all that disappointed if the new car comes in around the weight of the out going car. Lighter would be nice but +/- 3600 pounds wouldn't be all that bad given the increased level of equipment.

I'm sure the mustang lost plenty of weight. The main proof is the excess fenders that were drastically trimmed to forcefully shove that engine in.

 

But add the wider body, bigger brakes/wheels/tires, IRS, beefier subframe and pillars, I bet it'll be +/- 80 pounds to an equivalent 2014.

 

While the 200lb meme was floated about early on, in line with broader FoMoCo proclamations about seriously trimming the fat off their vehicles, that they've been noticably reticent about saying anything regarding weight belies that they probable trimmed little to none in actuality.

As for the M3/4, I think there is an apples and oranges comparisons problem, that people are comparing a more loaded 2014 to a relatively unloaded 2014 and saying little savings was actually done. I think if compared apples to apples, BMW did manage to shave close to 200lbs off a comparable 2015. I think...

 

that was the original plan, but things came up and i wont have a spare car for too long. so need a car sometime within the next few months. so the 50th year anniversary and m3 were the choices available. both great cars but the 5.0 v8 that the mustang has is more desirable than the inline 6 in the new m3s. better than the inline 6 in my car but still. i need v8 hahaha.

regardless of high performance i have some plans for it. the 700hp whipple kit, kws, some solid wheels, and a few other things to make it special

Why would you do that to a 50the Edition? Just buy a fricken regular one. This^ is the exact market I was afraid of this car attracting....

 

im not gonna chop it up like many people in the BMW community are doing to their cars these days. just trying to get it a little bit quicker. i respect a nice clean looking car. 50th anniversary is gonna be a hell of a car. all original. so messing with it would be just stupid
