Time 2015 Mustang Article
You may not say it, but I will, that is just ugly. I really can not believe that is what was raved about by those that saw it a few months ago and referred to as "stunning".

To be fair, Ford is damned if they do, damned if they don't. They could make a car that essentially looks like a refreshed S197 and people will say it doesn't look different enough and they could make a car that looks totally new and people will say it doesn't look like a "Mustang".
That said, I feel like, aesthetically, this S550 is more of a lateral move from the S197. While it looks better in some ways and worse in others, overall I feel it looks neither better or worse as a whole. I do think the more I look at it, the more I feel the rear just looks odd. I don't get why this seems to be such a recurring issue for the Mustang for the past 10 years.

I've already mentioned this in other threads and IMO, the S550 appears to be more of an evolution of the current S-197 rather than a complete departure as we were all led to believe when Ford announced the next Mustang would be moving away from the retro design of the current car altogether and moving towards a more modern design by taking the Mustang into the next 50 years..
Perhaps it's just me, but the new S550 just doesn't blow me away enough to part with my current 2006 GT

I won't be buying one no matter what it looks like (can't afford a brand new car and I am more than happy with my Bullitt), but I will most definitely be renting one from Hertz as soon as they have them available.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the '05-09 design is timeless. It will look just as great, if not better, in 40 years. I don't think the same applies to the '10-14 (and probably this new '15) model years. They're nice and I like all of them, but I don't think the designs will hold up over time like the '05-09's will.
It is very feminine looking. Not at all the "Shock-and-Awe" I was hoping for, but it's not BAD, per say. I'll hold the rest of my thoughts until the official reveal. I still haven't figured out what's so special about December 5th though. Why use such a seemingly arbitrary date on the 50th Anniversary of a legend? Why not go with something much more expected like NYIAS or April 17th or even January 1st! Or if it has to be December, why not the 25th (or 19th, my birthday!). The world may never know...

What is also very special and unique about the S-197, is for the very first time in it's 40 year history, the Mustang had it's own platform from the rest of the Ford line up and thus had it's very own identity as a direct result
