Sirius XM

Anyone successfully negotiate a better price for their service? My 6-month trial just ended last month. I really liked it, but paying for it isn't really a thing I'm looking forward to doing.

Been getting letters in the mail. $99 for one year, $30 for 6 months. I logged in to see if there were any additional fee's, and of course there are. Nearly $30 worth for 12-months.

I called up customer service and tried to negotiate $60 for 12 months. That's double what they're offering for 6 months. No go. I couldn't even get them to agree to take the fee's and taxes off the $99 option. So I told them I didn't need the service, thanked them for their time, and hung up. I got no push back or counter offer, even though I took my time closing.

Guess they'd rather have none of my money instead of some.

I currently pay for their app sevice on my smartphone. That gives me SatRadio in every car I drive. My wife has the app on her phone too so she gets it under my subscription as well. The app is also finally Apple CarPlay compatible. It is something like $120 a year, but that is cheaper than payng for it in 4 individual cars.

The best I was ever offered way $99 a year. And no they wouldn't wave the fees. Uncle Sam's gotta get his cut don't ya know.

I have in the past just took the 6 month special, and cancel at the end. Then I'd wait for another 6 month special. But, that got just to aggravating trying to remember the cancel date every time, so I just quite them altogether. I don't listen to Sirius/XM that much anyway. If we're on a long run I'll will at times just use Pandora through the cars system.

$99 a year is about the best you can do based on my many years of using them in my Lincoln. My 2018 GT just received the $99 a year note in the mail also after the six month free trial. You can try the old "send me to the retention dept" and see if they can do better but I have only ended up back at $99. Good luck.

Back about 10 years ago I had a standalone player. Seems like I remember it being $15 a month for the service, but if you called to cancel, they offered it to you for $6-7/mo.

I'll probably just go with the 6 month deal for now. Wanted to do a full year at a time, but $30 in fee's was the line for me.

They do have a package (music only) that's like 6 bucks a month. It's hidden on their home page in the fine print. Sneaky people they are.
