S550 will be wider and lower
Ever see how stupid your car looks with 20" wheels on it. Older cars could get away with being lower overall due to smaller diameter wheels and bodies which kept green houses lower as well.
Modify your car to proportionally account for the larger diameter wheels while keeping the overall same height and you end up with a green house like the current Camaro.

and here is a 66 fatsback on 18''

I dont really have a point here just like how it looks w/o the wheel gap
I was referring to the 442 with the 20" wheel comment, however they work on the Shelby or any S-197 because the car was designed with large diameter wheels.
The '66 is bordering on cartoonish with the 18's although at that angle and the work they did to get the stance right does a lot for the car. IMO I'd have gone no larger than a 16" wheel myself.
Take the 18's on here for example

Perhaps if they had fitted the tires up into the wheel wells more it might have looked better but the large diameter wheels and low profile rubber just seem to enhance the pissed off cat look and it seems to accentuate the 4x4 look as well.

Older muscle cars look like **** with anything larger than 16" wheels because they were designed with the smaller wheels in mind.
I'll be so happy when this Bigger is Better Wheel Fad Dies. Design the wheels to fit the car, not the other way around. Im sick of seeing cars with the Wheel Diameter Proudly Displayed in Big Chrome Numbers on the side of the car like it was an Engine Designation. Who Gives a **** How Big Your Wheels Are? It just means youre wasting horsepoweer to spin those things up. I would personally never put anything larger than a 16 wheel on any Classic Car, and 18's are really pushing it on most Modern Cars.

What kind of stupid ***, half witted response is that?
Well gee Bob, if I were to modify the body a little to make a 20 inch wheel look right on the car, a 20 inch wheel would look right on the car, and it would still be the same dimensions.
Or are you suggesting you cannot make a shorter car with 20 inch wheels that looks right? Because I can show you a whole host of exotic cars that look just fine with big wheels despite being 4-8 inches shorter than a Mustang. You can start that list with the 10 inch shorter Ford GT if you would like.
Oh, and for the record....
18s look just fine on the 442 without body modification...

Perhaps it does to you, but that's your opinion. Funny thing about opinions is that there are no right or wrong ones. My opinion, the wheels are too big, tires are too thin. Looks like a teenager with daddy's money went ape **** at discount tire.
Sorry, but I'm not too fond of the 18's either. The picture doesn't do it justice either since it was taken from the wrong angle for lighting. Obviously the background scenery prevents you from moving the sun, so that the car isn't shadowed rather than highlighted.
