S-197 looks dainty next to my S550
I just noticed this in a head to head shot of my S-197 and S550. Dunno if its the combination of my GT500 sitting a bit lower and being white while my new GT is darker in hue and sits a stock ride height.
It'll be a little while but I plan on lower the car with a full suspension swap down the road. I'll have to revisit this same picture after I do the swap.

the exposure is kinda dark- the shelby looks great, the black one with the black wheels looks like one of those shadow cutouts, kinda invisible except for the headlights on my screen

I don't know exactly what Bob's interpretation of Dainty means.. But if he's referring to his GT500 being lower in height over his 2015 GT ? Then I'm really confused, as the S550 stock height is supposed to be lower over the previous S197 generation

I think he means it looks smaller. Like the SN95 looks smaller than the S197. And the Foxes look smaller than the SN95... and the '65-'70 looks smaller than the '71-'72...
In my opinion, the earlier S197's are starting to become iconic looking, and perhaps that has to do with the retro styling. As original first and second gen Mustangs are being seen less and less frequently on the road, the first generation S197's are taking it's place as an immediately recognizable, desirable, (and still affordable) modern muscle/performance car.
I've always liked the Fox bodies, and am growing to really appreciate the SN95, but these aren't as immediately identifiable as Mustangs except to weenies like us.
The casual observer who likes cars, but isn't as passionate as others, can probably spot an '05-'09 in the distance and recognize it as a Mustang.
Time will tell if the S550 acheives that status.

IIRC isn't the S550 more streamline, lower and slightly shorter in overall length over the now previous S197 ?
If so, then how can the S197 possibly look smaller over the new S550 being as the S197 has a taller greenhouse/roofline, has a higher waisted beltline, has a higher stock height and most of all, appears to look bulky when compared to the S550

As I said, maybe it's just me or perhaps my eyes are really playing tricks on me

David ! would you mind explaining how the S197 appears to look smaller to you ? because I honestly don't see how that's possible, as we're all fully aware the S550 has a sleeker profile along with a shorter roofline, lower stock height, lower beltline and is slightly shorter in overall length..
Therefore how can the S197 appear to look smaller over the S550, as I honestly don't get that at all
