removal of engine cover

removal of engine cover

in the past i have always removed my engine covers. i have always seem them as soaking up heat. do you guys remove them? is it a good idea?

If I have to work on the car all the time, then heck yeah those covers are GONE.

But... I'm actually going to put covers on mine.

Sure, they might soak up heat, but that's what the cooling system is for. Hood traps heat too, y'know.

If it was a problem, you wouldn't see them.

It is therefore a personal choice. I don't like the engine looks without them, so on they go.

Seen a couple S550 pictures with S197 engine covers because they look nicer...

mine didnt have engine covers, but I bought one to hang on the wall

I do think trapping heat on the intake manifold would be likely, but enough to make a difference? who knows...

You're not wrong, but these covers won't hold enough heat to make any difference. Keeping/removing the cover would be a cosmetic choice.

Check out the car shows. I bet there are people who can clean up the look of the engine so no engine cover is desired.
